Cat with inflamed pancreas and lymph nodes

Has anyone had a cat with an inflamed pancreas, lymph nodes in stomach and ileum? If so how treated? Just discovered this is what my 7 yr old kitty has. A sonogram was done and aspiration of lymph node cells but no biopsy.
 
What did microscopic examination of the aspirate show?
What does the vet recommend?
Could it be just pancreatitis?
What were symptoms that led to vet vist?

Abut a year ago my Murrfee vomited and was very lethargic and would not eat. An ultrasound revealed pancretitis and it was resolved with fluids, pain meds and antibiotics.
 
Could be infection - lymph nodes will enlarge for that.
Could be cancer - lymph nodes will enlarge for that, too.

What kind of pain meds did they use?
 
It is a liquid that is given orally in the mouth. It is absorbed by the mucous membranes in the mouth and not in stomach so yo do not squirt it down the throat. There is also an injectable version. Some vets have the SR (Sustained Release) version when one shot lasts 3 days rather than giving 2 to 3 times daily for both oral and injectable

My vet has been giving Gracie Cerenia, and when I asked her about pain medicine, she didnt think she needed it with the Cerenia. She has gone from 5.8 to 6.2 lbs so far as of yesterday and is eating wet and dry food. She is also taking the prednisone. what do you think?

You are right cerenia is used. You can also give buprenex, sub q's and things like vitamin b injections. In effect you are treating the symptoms so if the the vet doesn't feel that your cat is in pain then they won't believe pain relief is a problem. The trouble is pain is often misdiagnosed as cats are so good at hiding it. Do your cat hide, not move about a lot?

Can I advise that you also join the yahoo feline pancreatitis support group. They have a great deal of experience of helping advise cat owners and I've read many threads with the co conditions you mention

I think the pain meds were for three days since the buprenex SY lasts three days. I did have oral burprenx if it was still needed. The antibiotics, Zeniquin was for 10 days and I think I gave fluids for 3-4 days.
 
It is best to give the supportive meds for at least a few days and then slowly reduce them and see how it goes. I had remi on his tablets for a few months to really help him get over the flair but he still has ondansetron daily even now.
 
Following on from Sarah's post above I, too, find that Saoirse needs supportive meds. I monitor her clinical signs daily and give supportive meds in line with how she's doing on any particular day.
