Buddy's human
Member Since 2018
I had to go away for a day and a half due to a death in the family. Friend of family gave Buddy his two doses of his 4 units that he would have missed. When I returned home yesterday evening, there was more food than I expected in his bowl. But, I checked and she said she gave him his normal amount in the morning. Actually, a little more than normal but I asked her to in case any plans changed he had a little more. When it came time to give his evening dose, I had to coax him out from under the bed and give a handful of regular food with his Glycobalance to make sure he ate enough to give his dose. He nibbled enough that I gave him his dose. Seemed to be acting normal. Then around 11:30 last night, he vomited a lot (more than I've ever seen at one time). This morning at 6:30 the little that remained in his bowl was gone and I have fed him small amounts twice today. I gave him his dose this morning. Actually gave 3 units just to be safe. Does anyone think this might be a bout of not feeling well that will go back to normal. He's hasn't vomited again since midnight last night. It's been a very rough week for me so I don't want to overreact based on my nerves.
Also, when I talked to my vet about a month ago about home testing, she said you can't home test when you are fructosamine testing. Does anyone know the validity of this? I don't want to spend money on the testing to also spend money on fructosamine testing that won't have its affect. But, I also want to do the best to stabilize him.
