cat urinated on self worried he might get sick

hi i'm new to FDMB and to message boards in general my name is HP (as in harry potter) i have a diabetic cat suffering from neuropathy in all four legs that has also been urinating around the house (this has been fixed thanks to my best friend who is renting out the spare bedroom dude has amazing cleaning abilities. i think he might be a cleaning wizard) about an hour ago my cat tried to climb from the couch to an foot stool but slipped and fell. when he fell he scared himself and than peed all over himself (after which he got up and hobbled off like he does since he has neuropathy). I cleaned him up using some grooming wipes that i got from pets mart, and while i know cats clean themselves after going to the bathroom but should i be worried about him licking up an excessive amount of urine off his fur.

if any one can help, please do

I am sorry your HP is having such a hard time with neuropathy. I think cleaning him is fine. We use Methyl B12 to help with neuropathy, but getting glucose levels below the renal threshold is vital in its treatment.

Have you determined he is diabetic? Are you using insulin and feeding wet low carb and testing? Those are the pillars of the protocol we use that has been so successful. If you'd like to know more about it, we'd love to help.
 
lol sorry i'm HP the cats name is Anakin (mom picked it out i wanted Silvester like from loony toons) every thing you mentened we are doing i'm just worried what happens if a cat swallows a large amount of urine
 
He'll be fine from the grooming. No worries.

Please Let us know more about your Anakin. What food he eats, what insulin he uses, when he was dx'd that kind of stuff.
 
Can you tell us more about your cat.

How long has he been diabetic?
Are you treating him for this?
What are you doing?
What kind of insulin are you using?
How often are you giving it to him?
What dose are you giving?
Are you home testing?
What kind of food are you feeding him?
How often do you feed him?

Mix one capsule daily into wet food and serve. It's that easy. What doesn't get eaten or is eaten by another cat is fine. The typical daily dose is 3-5 mg (3000 - 50000 mcg) daily.

Using this in conjunction with insulin, should help the neuropathy get better. It does take time, so patience is needed, depending on the severity of the neuropathy.
