I totally jinxed myself for posting that he was doing great, ugh. My 12 year old Cosmo was just recently diagnosed with diabetes, kidney disease, and pancreatitis on January 2nd. He's currently on 3 units of Novalin N twice a day which has been working fine for him. We went with a low protein diet for the kidney disease since we were doing insulin for the diabetes. At first he didn't really like the food so I got the okay from the vet to mix it with his old food which was already fairly low protein and he's been gobbling it up. A check up at the vet last Thursday told us that the diabetes was under control and his kidney levels were still not good but getting better, so we got the peace of mind that we are on the right track.

So now, he was doing totally fine but for the past week, about every other day, he's been throwing up in the morning. I've gotten smart and I've started waiting about 45 minutes after eating to give him his insulin because there's no rhyme or reason as to when or why he throws up, but it's a lot. It seems to be almost everything he just ate. I'm going to call the vet today to see what he thinks, he's not gotten any insulin this morning or two mornings ago. I just find it very strange that it's only ever the morning that we have an issue with (at least for now).

Hi Shannon, what you're seeing could be scarf and barf. Sometimes cats eat a little too fast and throw it all back up. Try feeding a smaller amount at a time, and spread it thinly over a flat plate. That has worked for my cat. Others will have more suggestions.

That's what I thought. When he was younger he lived with another cat and we couldn't give him wet food because he would eat it too fast and throw it up (I thought it was because he was trying to be alpha and eat more, faster). Since I've moved out and he's now a single cat again (which he loves lol) he seems to eat much slower which is why we didn't have a problem when we started up with wet again. Now that you have me thinking, I'm wondering if we only have a problem in the morning because he goes without food overnight for 13 hours as apposed to the 11 hours between the morning and evening feedings. (I work two jobs, I can only swing 5AM and 4PM feedings. There's no other option for me unless I start waking up at 4AM :nailbiting:)

Some people here use a timed automatic feeder so their kitty's can have a small meal or two while they are at work or asleep. You may want to look into one. @Bobbie And Bubba use one and can give you the link.

You also mentioned pancreatitis. A couple of other things you might try (in consult with your vet) is B12 injections and Pepcid. We have used a quarter of a Pepcid about 30 minutes before a meal to help with nausea.
