cat stole other cat's kibble - anything I need to do?

My civvie cat is a kibble addict so I haven't managed to fully transfer her over to wet yet and in my constantly exhausted state right now I didn't realize Monkey had gone over to the kibble bowl and stole a bunch before I could take it away - should I test more today? Anything I can do?
 
Hi, I happens is hard to control everything when you have more than one , not much you can do since he already eat them but is not a terrible thing, Monkey will probably have some higher readings than usual you will just have to wait until all the high carbs are out of his system, I don't think there's any reason why you would need any more than your usual tests, just take this into consideration so that you do not change his dose because of any high numbers you may get
 
This goes on in my house all the time... it's a race between Ham and I who gets to the civvie's Uno bowl first. Most times I win, but occasionally I get distracted and Ham gets a little bonus (kibble).
 
There are a few lower carb food you could leave out while transitioning. Epigen 90, young again zero carb, Dr elsley's clean protein

Thank you, I'll definitely look for those. I know there's purina DM dry food but that it's also super high carb. She just tested +3 at 13.5 (first day she's gone down in a few actually) and AMPS was 21.7, so I hope it stabilizes
 
DM is more medium carb and compared to the other diabetic prescription foods, it's one of the better one's o_O. But there are even better lower carb options that Janet suggested. Dr. Elsey's and Young Again are available online and in the U.S. only.

Monkey has snuck what we call "contraband" :p. I will suggest making a note of it for today so when you look back at numbers you'll remember what made them a little higher ;). Most multiple cat households with a sugar kitty put them all on the same low carb diet :). Least you shouldn't have to worry about her going too low today :smuggrin:
 
I know you and Monkey are new to the dance... I give my civvie dry still too because she is a grazer. I use to get away with just putting her bowl up high, but now that Gordy has lost his excess weight he can jump anywhere. I stressed about it a lot.

I actually invested in one of thos feeders that only opens for certain microchips. It was an expensive dish, but well worth it in MY big picture. I no longer had to concern myself with the issue. AND if I need to, I can put her wet in there too.

Saved my sanity.

If you find yourself unable to weene the little bugger off dry, something like that can save you some worry.

Poor Monkey will have a higher BG for a bit, but he'll come down.
 
This happens all the time at our house. I don't think any of my cats (we have 5) knows the word "No". Even if they did, they could care less what I'm saying. As long as they aren't on high carbs all of the time, it should be fine. I have been trying to put all of my cats on low carb or at least mix wet and dry for the others. One has tummy issues from wet food. One won't go near wet food. Cats are so finicky! Lol
