Hi,
I am set up for a business trip i have to take at the end of the week and had someone coming in to stay and give insulin, etc. Well, the cat sitter just flaked out. It was supposed to be 5 days but i now have it down to Thursday until midnight Saturday, or less. I had looked into boarding but with a newly diabetic (stable now) 16 year old I was afraid of the stress of boarding. Is there anyone in Denver interested in staying & keeping on the insulin protocol? if you are familiar with testing and giving shots it should be easy. I just need someone in the house so she doesn't stress. Since her sister litter mate died in Oct the empty house stresses her. I work from home too so she's used to someone here. I live a little north of DU if that helps. I'll pay well.
Am I thinking that boarding is worse than it is? She probably won't eat so I'd have her given half amount of insulin. No one there at night. I'd probably get small room rather than cage with all other cats. Just worried about stress level. I really think she came out of remission because I was away over Xmas & a few days late Jan with someone coming in 1/2 hour a day.
If I have to cut my trip to one day - out at 4:30 am & back at midnight, what would happen if she doesn't get insulin that day? She's on a 9 am/ 9 pm schedule.
Thanks again for help. This is pretty hard. To those who responded to my last post: thanks, and I am following all suggestions except for ketone check. I bought the strips but don't know how to get the urine to test. I can't imagine ladle working. Any other way?
Thanks again to everyone. I'm sure this will all calm down and become easier. . .
