It is a common issue faced by the most cat lovers. Many people said that it is very disgusting to clean the urine from the couch. And I know how difficult it is because my Lucy also loves to pee on the sofa furniture.
It is said that cats are not using the litter box for urinating as a result of stress, medical condition or if the box is not cleaned. You can encourage your cat to use the litter box by following few tips (something I found online).
1. Make sure that you clean the litter boxes every day
2. Place a litter box near the sofa or couch (where they usually pee) to encourage them to use box and gradually move the box back to the actual place
3. Apply double sided sticky tape over the place where they like to urinate.
Hope that this works. I'm going to try and let you know if it works.

The most important thing you can do is make sure the previous accident had no smell left. My favorite cleaner is unscented Anti icky poo

Aluminum foil on the couch will sometimes keep them off the couch too.

And try feliway diffusers

I also use a lot of enzyme spray. There are different kinds at petsmart. We haven't had recent issues. You have good self-advice.
