Hello, my kitty is not responding to his injections is seems like. He has however, gone from 12 lbs to 18 lbs in from January 2015 until now. He is a large cat so 12 lbs was too low for him (when he wsa DX). I have gradually increased his dose over the last year.

I did switch to Nature's Instinct food (low carb wet food) in the last couple of months. Not sure what to do. I have been working from home the last 6 weeks so I have been able to check him more. Any thoughts would be appreciated. The vet said his teeth looked good last year, but I am not sure how long it can take for them to cause the increased BG.

Thanks for the help! I updated the spread sheet for the last 2 weeks towards the bottom and added when I went from 3 to 4 units, now up to 5.6. Is this a sign he needs a different kind of insulin?

Hi Sue! It's been a while!!

I took a screen shot of the most recent data. I hope you can zoom in:

He has always been on low carb wet food, I switched from FF to Nature's Instinct the last 2 months. I took the dose down to 4 a few weeks ago and numbers didn't go down past 300.

Quick update, he got his shot 5.6 u 4 hours ago, I only gave him FF and he's at 141..... It might be that's specific food even low carb and quality, does not suit him.

It looks like he goes lower at night. Just to confirm...you're using a human meter right? Not the AlphaTrak? I ask because that night that you fed high carb, you probably didn't need to. I wouldn't worry until you see numbers in the 50s. Those 100s are okay for mid cycle.

Honestly, I'm not sure. He goes lower at night, but not too low. However, it's not every night He seems to hang out in pinks and yellows most of the time. Every now and then, he throws a low number. If you've been doing this increase slowly and he's been staying in the same numbers throughout, it's possible he just needs more insulin or a different insulin.

Has he been to the vet recently? Just to be sure there's nothing else going on that could be causing high numbers.

I wonder what happened between 3/24 and 3/27, Tanya. Those days the insulin seemed to be working well. I too wonder about the food those days.

Aside from those cycles, he is quite high. If he were there continually, I would consider a change to a depot insulin.
