Have another post here...... my OTJ kitty has been limping, not really eating and lost 2lbs since June. Blood work normal.

I of course am concerned with him not eating... he isn't interested in his canned wellness. I've given him boiled chicken and baby food of which he will eat small amounts of, and of course he won't say no to treats.

Really want him to eat a good meal... any other ideas? Dare I say the D word? We have been strictly wet for 3+ years but wondering if theres a low carb dry that he might eat so he can get some vitamins. He's back to the vet tomorrow and hope we will get some answers. Mama is a mess worried about him.

Thanks all!

If your looking for a low carb dry theres EVO cat & kitten formula (12% carbs), Young Again Zero carb (5% carbs), and Stella & Chewys freee dried (1% carbs- I think)

EVO and Stellas can be found in some pet stores. Young again is online only.

You could always try a different kind of wet as well, or have you tried adding tuna juice to his food?

How about sprinkling freeze dried treats over his wet food....maybe? I've been able to get KT to eat lots the last 3 days by using fdried chicken bitty crumbs. It's so hard on our hearts when we can't get them to eat good....

HUGS and prayers!

Thanks to you both :)

I may try a different wet that might be a good diea and see if I can get him to eat more and will try the freeze dried too.

My other kitty Milo is benefitting from this too.. lol...can't give one treats and chicken and not the other. Hoping to get him to eat when I am back home later from work.... kills me to be here right now without him so hard to concentrate!! Told him to hang in there, vets tomorrow morning!

I had to force-feed my diabetic cat, Scooter, for over a week when he quit eating. He is back to mostly eating on his own now with friskies pates mixed with a little water. Someone suggested raising his food bowl a few inches - sounds strange I know, but it actually worked and he finished his meal without licking it a little and walking away. I also used FortiFlora and that seems to work well. It is heart-breaking and scary when they won't eat.

Hi All-

Thanks :) I'll try to raise the bowl and see if that helps. Good news, I went out and bought a few pouches of stella and chewys. Got home last night and both boys went bonkers over it, and Mr. Oz ate a good amount-probably the most I have seen him eat. He's on Onisor? (sp) which is a NSAID which is making him feel better, but he can only be on that for 3 days because elongated periods can cause liver issues. Sprinkled some stella & chewys over their wellness this morning and both ate a good amount. Milo my non-diabetic, non issue kitty has also been shunning the wellness a bit too. I was chalking up all the leftover food to it being the summer time. Might need to consider switching, stella & chewys would be great but super $$$ although at $2 a can at 14 cans a week of wellness might not be that huge of a difference.

Oz man goes in at 11:45am today, hopeful we can fix whatever is going on.

Thanks all for the advice and support. This community is simply amazing.

Best,
Vivian and Ozzie
