Now on Day 3 of insulin (Novolin N). First two days, my cat was hardly drinking water. Day three, she is gulping down more water like she was before insulin. Is this normal with Novolin?

Hi Cat Ma! I think I am the only other one who uses N. I have not noticed my cat drinking more water from her insulin, I'd say its not from that, but I have nowhere near the amount of knowledge some members have. I'm still learning myself! It could also be that you are noticing/watching every move she makes. I was hovering so much after her first hypo , it made me crazy & I'm sure her too!lol The only thing I noticed is her grumpy mood from what I think was the fast & low drop in her BG. She hasn't been dropping low recently (still havent figured out why) but I swear shes acting nicer. Who knows! Home testing helps & saved her a few times. Everyone is sooo helpful here. Good Luck to you & your cat.

Any nsulin should decrease a cat's water intake unless you are overdosing.
Most of use here test or ca't blood sugar (BG) using a human meter. That way yo know if the does it too high or too low.

Does the water drinking happen in the hours before the next shot? N usually lasts about 6-8 hours in many cats, so when it wears off, the glucose rises again, and the thirst may increase.

Yes though it happens long before 6-8 hours. Starts right after the injection or an hour or so after and on.

How long has your cat been on Novolin? That's a lucky cat to do well on Novolin.
