My cat is being treated for a double ear infection and we have been battling a lack of appetite for 2 weeks.

I have noticed that when he is eating or drinking his breathing from his nose is very noisy .. would this be a cold ? Congestion?

It probably is related. The sinus and ears are connected. You can also give your cat l-lysine to help strengthen his immune system to fight against any respiratory infection. If you have more than one cat give it to all of them. Upper respiratory infections can be contagious.

You can crush the pills that you find in the vitamin section. Some of the health food stores also have it in powder form. Mix some with the food every day.

Ear-Nose-Throat. I went through years of this as a kid, it really is all connected. Our cat Andy was prone to constant runny eyes that developed into something more but with the right meds and time he always healed. Other than the times he's eating and drinking do you hear any wheezing?
What meds is he on right now?

I'm only doing zofran and an appetite stimulant and they work pretty well.
He seems normal otherwise and I only hear the congestion when hes drinking or eating

A couple of suggestions...

Run a hot shower and get the bathroom steamy. Let your kitty sit in the "steam room" -- the steam may help to break up the congestion.

If you're not already adding water to your cat's food, add warm/bordering on hot water. It can help to make the food smellier.

Use flavors that are smelly. Cats will often avoid food if they can't smell what they're eating. (It's self-preservation Otherwise, in the wild, they wouldn't know if food was spoiled.)
