I've not transitioned him entirely on to low carb wet as i have no idea what his bloods are and whether it's safe but as he has stopped eating his dry food and I have been unable to persuade him to eat it at all I've swapped it for giving him as much low carb wet food as I can persuade him to eat.
I'm just very worried about him going hypo and me not realising as with the neuropathy and him being generally less active I might not notice. And with his food intake dropping giving him the higher dose of insulin seems risky. When the nurse told me how to administer it she told me to adjust down if he didn't finish his food.
Hopefully soon I will be able to get blood tests consistently- at least with being pricked a lot it should get easier and the warming device should help (it's just around human body temp on the lowest setting and it's 360 so I can feel if it's getting too hot) and then we will have a much better picture of what's happening and be able to figure out a safe dose moving forward.
