My cat sadly came out of remission and is now back on lantus. First time around, I was able to get her off lantus after a month, but I am not having much luck this time. She now has kidney disease and hyper-thyroidism so I'm sure that is not helping. I do have a couple of questions. Her numbers keep swinging around and I'm wondering if her kidneys and hyper-thyroid are making it worse? The other question I have is I am wondering if someone could suggest a Lantus spread sheet that I could look at so I can fully understandy what a 'typical' cat's numbers would look like when using Lantus. I'm having a hard time understanding when numbers typically peak and go low in relation to having a shot.
My cat was not able to tolerate medicine for her hyperthyroid, so she is not on any other medication. She is receiving 1 U Lantus morning and night. Her numbers have swung from 50 to 500.
The information on this forum is fabulous. When I think of what my vet did NOT tell me and what I have learned here is incredible. I thank everyone for their advice and suggestions.
