This cat defies explanation. I really expected him to be sky-high this morning. I fully intended to check him at +3 or +5 last night but I forgot to set the alarm.
Ocean Whitefish & Tuna had about 1/4 of a can left this morning. This morning they got mixed grill.
Cass is eating fine; Benny, on the other hand, is being picky. I'm probably going to wait until I talk to the vet next week (Thurs.) before I take a way the dry. I want to make sure Cass is at a good weight and ask how much to feed.

Thanks for checking up on us, Kim!

Don't worry, Cass's numbers confuse me, too!

Wondering if some of the erratic-ness is because I shoot the scruff? Somewhere I read said this.caused "absorption issues". I've been sticking with it because I'm not sure where else is an option & when I asked the vet said it wasn't a problem.

Re: Cassie 9/28 -- TID -- wet food trial

You can shoot in the flank area--supposedly this is the preferred site. Some even shoot in the arm pit area. BUT, if you change sites.....do it when you are home to test the cycle. It can make a BIG difference with absorption---depending on where you shoot sometimes. I still shoot the scruff, because I know what type of response to expect---I like knowing!

Almost yellow PS! Can I still celebrate? Makes no sense after the 2 400 PS's yesterday, but still.

They didn't like the Country Style dinner, although they did eat most of it. So far they've eaten everything I've tried, at least to some extent. Today I'm cycling back through flavors. The problem is that the store doesn't carry all that many pate style flavors because they have so many other versions (shreds, chunks, gravy lovers, etc.). The large multi-pack only has three flavors, one of which (of course), they don't like.

I'm ready to lose the dry. It drove me crazy last night. There was plenty of canned food sitting there, and BOTH of them dive into the crack. I'm sure that's why he had such a high PS yesterday afternoon and evening.

That's kind of why I haven't changed yet. We go to the vet in a week; I'll ask her again what she thinks about shooting other places. After I ask how much I"m supposed to feed them.

Lisa,
Maybe this weekend, can you get some in between shots? Robin might be right, but I think you need to know how low Cass goes in the middle. If the dose is too high, then I think you would either see a really flat curve every cycle, or you'd find out if it's actually a really deep curve. Either could indicate a high dose. However, if you see a shallow curve, wouldn't that indicate that the dose is actually too low? You need to see how much this dose is pushing Cass down, I think.
I'm also wondering if you're getting dose "overlap", and if so, what that's doing.

The only thing that's changed is adding wet food; he's still eating some dry. I either get flat curves (usually md/pm) or small drops, historically. I decided to take a break for a few.days on the mid-cycle tests because I was driving us both crazy. I plan to do at least a mini-curve over the weekend. I think .6 was too much (no good drops); .4 had good drops but the ps were too high & getting higher. He's had a couple good cycles at .5. With afew exceptions he's still showing an early nadir & clear rise at +8. I don't want to change too much at once since I'm transitioning on food. I don't really know how to read his numbers.

Edit: dinner was late tonight, at +7 which may contribute to the high ps.

Yes, definitely. If he ate at +7, you would have seen that right around +8 for sure.
