I know we should be aiming for blues and greens, but I like pink so much better than red and black! .5 is starting to look pretty good for my boy. (He DID look awfully cute in the hot pink collar as a baby, when we thought he was a girl.) If this keeps up through the weekend I may stay at .5 a little longer and see if I can convince him to eat wet food. (I did just pay $50 for a big bag of Evo...but I'm sure it will get eaten before we're done switching.)

Ketones=0 last night (I think--hard to tell the difference between 0 and trace; If I can catch him I'll check again today, just to be sure). This time the "dump in in the litter box and hope he'll pee" trick worked.

The next couple days are going to be crazy and I won't be able to test as much as I like (figures, since I think he's getting into a good groove here). It's homecoming weekend at school, AND my girl scout troop is having a mass yard sale (all in the same weekend, of course!)

Everyone have a good day!

Re: Cassie 9/23 -- TID

I can totally relate to pinks not being bad! Just like you, once I got Kitty out of the Reds and Blacks--I was scared to press too much. As Cassie continues to adapt to TID, you will continue to see the preshots come down some. At times there does seem to be a fine line between trace and negative on the ketone sticks---just don't look too hard at it. If it is truly a Trace reading--it will be pink and very easy to distinguish. You should always look at the urine strips in natural light...it makes a difference.

So, Great news on the Negative Ketones and the Pink preshots!

I am glad you stuck the TID out!

Have a great weekend! I love yard sales!!!

Re: Cassie 9/23 -- TID

If you love yard sales so much, and you want to drive all the way to Blacksburg, VA., we'll be out from 8-2 at Beeks Elementary School. 10+ families, to send girl scouts on an international trip next summer. It's also a Virginia Tech game day though, so traffic may be . . . interesting.

(I don't really expect you to come, just felt the need for a shameless plug.)

I'm hoping Cass's numbers will smooth out soon. I really feel like I need to start pushing the wet food option, but I don't want to change food and dose at the same time. Thanks for keeping an eye on us. It helps to have someone else checking in.

Re: Cassie 9/23 -- TID

Virginia Tech??? I am an East Carolina fan...I went up to Blacksburg a few years ago for the Va Tech-- ECU game---it is a beautiful campus. I have friends in Roanoke--not too far!

I am very interested in you and Cassie. I am no expert on TID, but I am more than happy to offer any support or suggestions I have based on my experiences. I think you are doing great!

Good Luck with the Yard Sale!

Re: Cassie 9/23 -- TID

I have come to hate the color red myself
looks like you guys are doing fairly well though!

We made $1304.75 at the yard sale for the girl scout troop!

I'm thinking .5 is looking pretty good for Cass. We may stay here for a while and try working on food.

I think this was a meter error. Wasted 2 other strips when he flinched at the wrong time. I think I poked him 6 times bwfore this odd reading so I gave up. Based om his +5 & how much he's eating this number is impossible.

Re: Cassie 9/23-24-- TID

I might have wasted another strip to get a good test. Are you going to get a mid cycle test tonight?

Great yard sale day, yay for the Girl Scouts.

Re: Cassie 9/23-24-- TID

Nice garage sale profit!

Blacksburg huh...nice that you are near a vet school. A lot of my friends kids have gone to Tech and a friend of my youngest daughter died in the shooting there. What an awful time! Were you nearby then?

I have no comment on dosing...those of you who shoot TID amaze me. I have a hard time keeping up with BID!

Rob: I wanted to get another test last night but Cass wasn't sticking around any more; he said I had poked enogh at that point.

Barbara: I'm not super close to VT; it's about 1.5 hours away. Cass was referred to the vet school during his dka. I started working with these girls 7 years ago when I was there for grad school & I drive down every couple weeks for scouts. They're 10th & 11th graders now so it will only be a few more years I have to drive it.

I actually was on campus as a grad student.the day of the shootings; that was my last semester of classes before I started my current job. One of my scouts' father was one of the professors killed.

On a happier topic, I like today's amps. Will try to get some.mid-cycle #s today.

I remember the Va Tech shooting.....so sad. Are you in the Wytheville Va area? Or am I going in the wrong direction?

Good on you for helping the Girl Scouts!!!

GREAT amps this morning! I am liking the .5 and Cass's reaction to tid recentlyl.

Have a great day!

Like so far...

Wytheville is fairly close (half hr or so); actually closer to Princeton, WV. You're in the right general direction.

I'm liking the .5u, too. Still too high, but much better.

I know Princeton. I travel through W Va to Lexington KY from NC a lot--- I stop in Princeton occasionally to eat!

Beautiful area--- especially in the fall.

Cass makes my head hurt ;-)

I don't understand the 21st....
It looks like you were getting better numbers on the .4, or better curves anyway. :?
I'm stumped,

Carl: Cass stumps us all. Keep in mind he's still on dry. Since .5u is halfway working we're going to attempt to go wet. I bought 5 types of friskes pate today. I haven't figured out the best way to do this yet, but we're sure gonna try!

10.97 lb. (up .4 from last week). At this rate I'm gonna have to start rationing what he eats!

Tried Mel's kitty kisses with canned chicken. I had to bake.it longer because it had so.much.moisture but.both boys eat it. May be a cheaper sub for freeze dried chicken treats.
