So, we're still alive. SS updated (finally) Cass has been doing really well--still throwing the occasional 18 hr. cycle on 0.4u. I missed posting a big milestone a few days ago: 8/1 (Fri.) was the 3-year anniversary of Cass's dx of diabetes. He went into DKA shortly after and I thought I'd lose him. Since then, he's varied from 0.4u to 1.4u with most of his time right around 1u. I worried for the longest time he was never going to be regulated--for a while we even shot tid. Now he's regulated and doing really well on such a small dose--I keep holding my breath because I don't really believe we're here. Diabetes wasn't the end of the world after all. Mr. Antisocial has turned into a lap cap (instant cat, just add lap--but if anyone else comes he hides). Happy anniversary Cass Cat.

He has a vet appointment Thursday for some lab work, just to make sure. (He's 14, after all). Benny still has slightly elevated kidney values (vet Mon.) but they're no worse than two years ago.

Congratulations and Happy Anniversary. Yes, I can remember when he would bounce constantly and throw such wild numbers. Less than 1/2 unit is a great dose and so is staying under that renal threshold. You stuck it out and have a happy, healthy, regulated kitty. Great job, Lisa. party_cat party_cat

Haven't updated the SS (bad cat mom) because I left his notebook at home and my phone doesn't like Google Docs. However, he's run extended cycles (generally 18 hours) for the past four cycles. I hesitate to reduce, since he's only going down in the 80's (high is generally around 170 but may be in the low 200's). The problem is, I have to go back to work tomorrow (classes start Mon.) and can't play musical shot times. I haven't tried it in a couple weeks, but last time I shot 0.2u (as opposed to 0.4u) it didn't make any obvious difference. He stayed more or less around 200 with no drop. Things may have changed since them and I may have to experiment. But---any suggestions? I promise I'll update his SS this afternoon (tomorrow morning at the latest).

I don't know, Lisa. The normal thing would be to try a smaller dose every 12. It is interesting that you've tried that and he doesn't drop. The only thing I can think of trying a skinny .4 - so a dash more than .2 but not quite .4. It would be hard to measure and maybe marking it on a sample syringe would be the best way to keep it consistent.

No way to change and arrange his shooting schedule so you can do +18? Even if sometimes it was off and came in the middle of the night or it was extended by a few hours? I would generally say this should be a short time frame of pain to remission but with Cassie, that is certainly not his pattern.

I can get close (within an hour or two), and I guess that's what I'm gonna do. Of course, after all this, he goes and changes things on me. 5 long cycles in a row--and this morning was short. I wish Mr. P would decide what he wants to do, already.

On another note, I had the vet do a senior blood panel on both boys recently. Benny has elevated kidney values, but they're on the low end of high and haven't changed in two years. Cassie has good numbers across the board. (Clean bill for everything buy thyroid--which isn't back yet; but if I don't hear anything, it's good news.)

Hi Lisa & Cassie!

Happy Anniversary!!! party_cat party_cat party_cat
(I LOVE that emoticon!)

Hope you've been able to settle into a schedule that works for both of you. Looks like the big guy is continuing to do well. Congrats - it HAS been a long time coming, and, like you, I never really expected to see it either! The only issues I have with G and Spartacus' doses ... is seeing well enough to get that micro-dose accurate!!! I can honestly say that G has found regulation... and it's amazing ... especially after he, Cassie, Baxter, Linus & friends spent so much time at the IHOP! I'm hoping that a dental is all that's needed to push him to OTJ. I think both of our boys are due for a nice "trip to the falls"! :-D

Happy Anniversary - 3 yrs - WOW!!! That's us in January; his Acro anniversary is May; and SRT is July. We celebrate them all! Big hugs to your extra sweet boy.

Congratulations Lisa and Cassie! This is such great news. You give all of us hope that someday we can be regulated too!
