Re: Cassie 12/15

Do I need to do a curve at .4u before I increase? It will prob. be Sun. either way since commencement is Sat.

Re: Cassie 12/15

Just my opinion, but if you could get a +6 and +8 that would be ok...
and better judge where to go from .4...

Re: Cassie 12/15

Ampd 340, .4u (+15)

Probable food spike involved; usual 1/2 can o'friskees at +12.

+3 196!

Re: Cassie 12/15-16

Awesome! That's what it's supposed to do.

Re: Cassie 12/15-16

+8 228

I suspect he's rising at this point. Will check.at +9 and shoot if possible so we're back on schedule.

Pmps 307, .4u (+9)

Re: Cassie 12/15-16

Let the cycle play out, but you may start thinking about upping to .6....

Re: Cassie 12/15-16

This is frustrating. He keeps alternating between good cycles, late drops, and worthless cycles. Do I curve at .4 before I increase? Do I want to gowith .5 or .6? He's had a couple drops into the upper 100s on the .4. AND he did better with mo insulin at all!

Re: Cassie 12/15-16

Lisa, here's what I'm thinking.

He does okay on these small doses, and he did better than logic would dictate on no insulin at all. Part of the reason why that may be is because the doses you were giving him just before trying "zero" were really tiny doses. So you wouldn't really see that big of a difference between zero and say .2u. That he stayed as low as he did without insulin is a great thing! That means, to me, that he isn't far from becoming a non-insulin diet controlled diabetic kitty.

I also don't really think anyone is going to see much of a difference, especial with a cat is getting big dose like 3u, when you shave or add .1 to it. I think the differences we see when people do that are either within meter variance, or just "happen" for some reason for a day or two.

When a cat is almost OTJ, then I think micro-dosing can come into play. A couple PZI kitties went OTJ lately, and just got tiny doses as needed leading up to remission. So yes, it works, when the situation is right.

I personally believe that Cass can go into remission. But before he gets there, it's just my gut feeling that he'll be getting bigger doses first. The small doses can control his numbers and probably keep him in the yellows and blues forever. And if that's good with you, then of course it's good with me. I'm not going to tell you to bump up his dose if it isn't something you want to do. Cass is your baby, not mine.

I think you are going to have to up the dose in order to force "greens" on him. He'll probably bounce from that as most cats do. And you'd have to just ride the bounces out. I think if you do up a dose, it should be at least .2 or .25 at a time, depending on what's easiest to read on the syringe. I don't think Cass is going to "go green" on his own, but that you'll have to force it on him. That's a big deal, and scary and stressful.

Bottom line, whatever it is that you want, that is what I want for you and for Cass.

Re: Cassie 12/15-16

The answer is, of course I want Cass otj. I'm just frustrated. I thought I was starting tp understand the logic behind reduction and how he was going to react. Then suddenly I discover everything I thought I knew was wrong and we need to increase, not decrease. I thought we were.getting somewhere and now I find we're basically starting over. I have to wonder where we'd be if I hadn't been so quick to decrease. I really need to get him somewhere stable in the next few months because I have to go to a conference and my mom will be warching him. She doesn't have a clue and is afraid to test him.

I'll do what I need to for Cass to get better. I just get discouraged sometimes and this is the only place I can complain where people will "get it" and not think I'm crazy. Cass is turning into a.cuddler, which I never expected. He was always.kind of stand-offish.

Commencement tomorrow, so if I increase it will be afternoon at the earliest.

Re: Cassie 12/15-16

+12 265

I.swear he does this just to.make.me sleep.deprived (or.for.extra chicken).

Re: Cassie 12/15-16

Amps 337, .4u (+17.5)

Fed 1/4 can friskees at +12 & +15. This probably includes a food spike but I have.to go to commencement &.can't wait longer.

Re: Cassie 12/15-16

I'm sorry you're having a hard time Lisa...been there..still doing that! :YMSIGH: You are doing a wonderful job with Cassie though. It's nice to have this board to vent. You wouldn't believe all the "friends & family" telling me I should just have Thumper PTS. You are a good mama bean to Cassie, just look at how he has become a love bug...he knows what you are doing to help him feel better. :YMHUG:

Re: Cassie 12/15-16

Hang in there Lisa,
It is so hard and of course you can vent here all you want!
Unfortunately I am with CArl and think you should raise some and see what happens
but your choice...
just take it one day at a time!

Re: Cassie 12/15-16

Pmps 304, .4u (+12)

Will increase to .6u tomorrow. Don't want to worry about crashes at 3am.

Re: Cassie 12/15-16

Sounds like a good plan, I hate surprises at night too.

I'm glad you are going to raise, renal threshold is around 250. With such a small dose I think he can come around to better numbers very soon.
