Second cycle in a row (& third in 2 days) that's essentialky flat. We are very close to the end of the prozinc vial. Is it possible the dregs are no good? Should I give the pm dose from the new vial to see what happens?

Re: Cassie 1/21-22 weird

I see varied results at the end of the vials. I would start the new vial tonight. Remember, sometimes the new vials have proven to have a little more potency!

Kim, you mean you have used an entire vial?

I think I would go with the new vial also.

Oh Barbara, thanks for the laugh!
Lisa, this is what I do, I know it might sound a little strange
but I always leave a little in the bottle and keep it in the fridge when I open
a new vial..I am so afraid of dropping these vials I like to have a backup just
for the day when I do finally drop it....
so another words, yes I would start the new one

pmps 290, 1.4u (+12) **new vial**

Thanks for the confirmation about the new vial. Hopefully this will explain some of the wonkiness of the last week or so. Obviously the curve/increase will wait until we see.how the.new bottle does (surprisingly, it expires a month BEFORE the old one did.

Re: Cassie 1/21-22 new vial

I've always seemed to find mine loses some potency at the end of the vial even though its not supposed to.
Denise, I do the same thing, I save the "dregs" in case heaven forbid I ever drop the bottle and break it. I think I have 5 PZ "dregs" bottles in fridge now that are still in date.
Cassie looks good using the new "vile".

Still flat. Not the insulin; must.be the cat! So high-ish flat cycle = ? Too much or too little insulin? Now what?

remember, do not base your dose on one day..
yes Cassie had a bad day
but Im thinkin you need to hold for a little while Longer
she was great before so give her a little time

I agree with Denise, stick with the dose for a few cycles/days and see what the results are before changing.

He's acting normal, but I went back to work this week & haven't been home as much. Should be able to get a ketone test tonight-just changed the.breeze pad. He's been in my lap most of today.

Wonder if its possible the new vial is bad? Probably not; you had some movement down today, not as flat.
Does the insulin look o.k.?
Give it a few more cycles. Maybe if the old vial was petering out, it allowed him to stay high and flat and it will take a few days on the new vial to make up for that.

my vet told me that the strenght of a vial of insulin must be with in
a certain % range, so it is possible to get a vial that is not as strong as the previous vial
That is what happened to us last month...he was doing great on a certain dose
and then when I opened the new vial his numbers went higher so I had to raise him,

I think that is why we should lower a very little bit on the new vials as they could be stronger
than the old one...but they could also be weaker
