what carb count do you keep your cat at? With skittles I only buy the fancy feast with the least amount of carbs as possible, for example I don't buy anything that has more than 3 carbs.

Since I'm feeding 2, I tried to stay with Friskies but two weeks ago every time they ate it they would get diarrhea. At least skittles got diarrhea and feisty would throw up. I thought that skittles was getting diarrhea because of the medication he was on for his infected tooth but then my dog snuck in the kitchen and ate Their food and within an hour he also had diarrhea. He didn't have it before he ate that food and he hasn't had it since he ate that food.

I too go with the Friskies and I allow for carb count under 5. It allows for a little more variety in flavors. I've found that she really loves the Liver and Chicken Dinner, and getting her to eat enough to maintain weight is a big issue. So if I go up to the 5 (because I prefer to stay at 3-4 like you) and she's eating better... well, that's a good thing.

I read early on that you want to keep the carbs to less than 10% of their intake. I believe the carb calculator is in @Yong signature.

I have also splurged on some Fancy Feast of the ones that are lowest in carbs as well. (Again staying under 5 from Lisa's big list.)

Switching from hard food to soft food can give them diarrhea. Have you made the switch recently or were they always eating Friskies wet, you just changed flavors to lower the carbs?

They have been eating only wet food for 2 years. Been feeding both FF & Friskies for about 6 months. Before then they were always on Friskies but when they had that recall I switched over to fancy feast. But those 3 ounce cans are killing me because they eat at least 5-6 a day. I still have about eight cans of Friskies and I might try giving them some to see if they get sick again , well I think I will . Since it also gave my dog diarrhea it makes me really concerned. And he has long hair and of course with my luck it got all over him and I had to give him a bath

It might just be the batch that those cans came from. 8 cans should be about $4... Not terrible to replace. (Though who likes to waste anything when we diabetic cat parents have so many expenses...)
If you're thinking the cause is the food, toss those and get more, (maybe from a different store so you don't chance getting more from the same batch) and see if that helps.
I am not having the same issue on Friskies here, so it's not a Nationwide thing and it sound like we're feeding the same flavors even.

(I too can't do the FF full time b/c of cost.)

Pointed out that it might mislead members who might use it since it's based on Guaranteed Analysis information, which can be inaccurate so don't want anyone to think the result is close. :cat:
