Just got back from Petco to stock up on Merrick BG which Casanova has been loving. I also bought some Soulistic but am having a hard time finding a concrete answer about the carb content. Anyone know?

Thanks,
Laura

If you haven't done so already, I'd post about this on Health, as well.

You may need to call the company to get the "as fed" values and then plug them in on Janet & Binky's spreadsheet to get the carb content.

Laura One condo per day & night for all your numbers & questions-OK? Too many members, not enough space!!
There is a way to calculate carbs in cat food--here is the link to the foods that have been researched here:
http://www.felinediabetes.com/diabetic-cat-diets.htm
We all feed our kitties off the food in these wet food lists--But you can also call the company & ask the carb content in % in their food.--OK??
OH BTW--Welcome to Lantus Land!!

I already got the info from the company as I saw it, too, and thought it might be a good choice. Here's the link to the SS they sent me with their GA and Recent Analysis which I take to be their "as feds".

When I plugged the numbers of the Recent Analysis into Janet's calculator, I got the following % calories from carbs:
Shrimply Divine 8%
Double Happiness: 5%
Polynesian Picnic: 3%
Celestial Feast: 4%
Upstream Dream: 7%
Surf N Earth: 8%
Pure Bliss: 18%
Aqua Grill: 22%
Good Karma: 19%
Nautical Nirvana: 8%
Sweet Salutations: 22%
Harvest Sunrise: 24%

I wrote the the company about the % carbs in, for instance, Good Karma, because it doesn't seem to have alot of added carbs but Janet's calc shows otherwise. The President of the company responded. Here is what he said:
The only added carbs to Good Karma would come in the tapioca starch and the xanthan gum. The tapioca starch is between 1-2% of the formula and xanthan gum is about 0.5% of the formula. Tapioca starch is about 90% carbs and xanthan gum is about 78% carbs. In doing that math, 90% of 1% is .9%, 90% of 2% is 1.8% and 78% of 0.5% is 0.39%. Meaning, the carb percentage in the formula is around 1.29% to 2.19%. Taking the higher number of 2.19%, this changes the math a bit in your example…there are 7.67 carb calories + 14.45 + 48.86 = 71 calories. That is about 10.8% carbs calories. If you use the lower range, it’s 4.52 + 14.45 + 48.86 = 67.83…this is 6.6% carbs.

He never addressed why I am getting 19% in Janet's calculator using their recent analysis figures. Unfortunately, the varieties that are low carb have fish and I have to keep Gracie away from alot of fish. I did buy some Good Karma for steering but haven't tried it yet....I'm confused as to what the %carbs really might be.

If I post a question like this in my condo I figured no one would see it. Sorry and sorry for the double post, not sure how that happened.
