Carbs as fed vs carbs dry Matter

This may be the most ridiculous question ever... I tried finding clarification on -line before I bothered you with it, but here goes... I've been using the carb calculator and have found it very useful (have so far settled on Fancy Feast Pates). However, there are two carb measurements: "fed as" and "dry matter."

When calculating carbs in wet food only, is "dry matter" relevant?

If so, which do I use, "fed" or "dry matter?" If not, when do I use the "dry matter?" For dry food only (big DUH?)? :)

Thank you for your patience with the newbie (we're only one month into this journey)!

Excellent question!
I have been using CARB% ME because that is what appears in all the charts.

I would guess the as-fed value is more useful when comparing one wet food with another wet food.
Dry matter basis would probably work better for comparing dry foods, like kibble. But I am not sure about it...

I've just asked the same question in another post. Let’s see if the more experienced members can help clarify this for us.

Here is what I've got:

Dr. Pierson - new Food Chart (CARB% ME)

Calculating % Calories from Carbohydrates

From the link to the second post that Clarice posted:

However, the above information still does not actually tell us the % of calories from carbohydrates which is the crucial number we need.
Also per that post, you can get there from As Fed or DMB.

No question is ridiculous, ask away ;)
The DRY MATTER is the correct carb to feed
Thank you. That's the one I've been using, but (long story as to why) I suddenly was hit with self doubt.:cat:
