Carb count on new food

Ok everyone, I am needing some help trying to find out if my Sugar Bean (remission right now!) can eat some of the food that I am going to try with Gumpy as Bean is always trying to sneak her food!
It is Wysong Chicken au Jus - wysong.net..............and the label says this:

I was reading the charts on Binkeys site and if I did this right, it would be 13.5 carbs.... Could I PLEASE get some feed back if I am doing this right?
Gumpy is now eating Beans food, but really needs to change the phos., protein, and salt for her to do what she needs to do with her food as well! I am trying to find something that I can mix w/ Beans food for Gumpy, but if Bean happens to get in a few bites, wont be extremely bad for her!

BTW..... no insulin since 5/21!!!! I THINK WE COULD MAYBE GET OUT THE PARTY HATS AND AT LEAST DUST THEM OFF, AND GET READY FOR THE PARTY!!!!

Bell I'm not sure how you arrived at the carb count. I will say you have to treat Bean as a DIABETIC still and forever. She will be back on the juice if you feed carbs. I do think 13 carbs is too high. It's your choice but you got lucky the first time....I would'nt play with fire.
Tom was otj in 30 days his first time around...for 2.5 years. I got careless and started giving him some snacks at times. He's been back on the juice for 1.5 years now.
Just sayin.
 
The numbers on the can are the guaranteed analysis. To calculate accurate carb percent, you need the as fed numbers. The Wysong Chicken Au Jus is on the old canned charts as all meat chicken. It is listed as 0% carbs. However, it is not a complete diet and should be used for treats or occasional feeding only. You can add a vitamin/mineral supplement to make it complete, but you would then need to consider the sodium, phosphorus, etc. in the supplement.
 
Food choices for CRF and FD

ok - this is my thinking.....
I HAVE to find something that is just as good for Gumpy's health as Beans....Gumpy gets dry food script for crf.(very high carbs)....for a couple of min..while I keep Bean buzy outside with me, then I take up her dry and have been giving her the same food as Bean.
Bean usually stays out of Gumpys, however, I will catch her every once in a while!

Sooo, If I find something that is good for Gumpy that also will not be very very hi in carbs for Bean, I would feel better about it.... If wysong is ok for Bean, I will try Gumpy on it and mix w/ Beans food just for her...Got to be better for Gumpy than straight Bean food! And better for Bean if she sneaks into Gumpys...I TRY SOO HARD TO KEEP THEM SEPARATED, but Gumpy wants to eat constantly when I am home....WE ARE ALWAYS IN THE KITCHEN.... I do not want to put something down that is sooo totally terrible for Bean that she must do insulin again!

That is my problem, trying to balance them both!

Bean is doing sooo much better and believe it or not, so is Gumpy....She is on 4 meds throughout the day, but this new med that the vet gave her, has changed her life!!!! But...... the food is the issue! I have to find something that is better for her kidneys but is not bad for Sugar Bean....I want to find the lowest carb food and the lowest sodium, phosphorus, etc. for my Gumpy girl, as she is acting as if she will be with us for a while :razz:

I do not know anything about supplements???? could someone explain that to me??? If I am mixing the food for Gumpy w/ Beans, would she need that? I would think not..... Neither one of them because Bean should not be eating it and Gumpy will not just eat that as it will be mixed with Beans.....SOOO CONFUSING!!
Wish me luck w/ them both, I am going to need it!

If I understand correctly, you need a food that is low carb for Bean and low phosphorus for Gumpy.

A few good choices that are both are:
Wysong Chicken Gourment 5% carbs phos 123 mg /100 kcal
Wysong Seafood Gourmet 7% carbs phos 136 mg/100 kcal
EVO 95% Beef 2% carbs phos 171 mg/100 kcal
EVO 95% Venison 2% carbs phos 146 mg/100 kcal
Wellness Turkey 4% carbs phos 200 mg/100 kcal

There are probably many more. These are all complete foods so you can feed them to both cats without worrying about malnutrition. You might want to change your topic to "Food choices for CRF and FD" so others will pitch in with their suggestions.

TYTYT i will try but dont really know how to change it! and Gumpy just had another seizure this afternoon! So, I will work on trying to figure it out in a bit, but tytyty for the food information.
 
and on the lower priced foods you can also go with friskies special diet - pate flavors - turkey & giblets, beef & liver, beef & chicken. those are low carb and low phosphorous.
