Capoo, on the way to remission?

Hi,

For one month, I haven't stopped to decrease the doses of Capoo.
This morning, it was his 6th cycle with a dose of 0.25 IU, and he hit 73 (AT2 meter) at AMPS+3!
I have to precise that thanks to an auto feeder, Capoo receives exactly 1/8th of his daily ration every 3 hours.
Do you think that he's on the way to remission?
Now, I'm thinking of the near future, when I would (will? Fingers crossed...) have to inject only 0.1 IU.
I have seen the photos on the sticky post, and it seems so small...
How are you sure not to inject too much?

Will you be able to get tests at +4 and +5 on this cycle? If he dips below 68 he qualifies for the dose reduction. If he doesn't get the dose reduction on this cycle I'd recommend being sure to get a couple of mid-cycle tests on tonight's PM cycle for safety.

WRT the dose measurement if you post on the Lantus forum for help with the measurement I'm sure they'll be able to give you lots of tips on technique. When Saoirse was 'almost there' I just gave her a tiny drop as a dose, measured by pushing the plunger right down in the barrel, inserting the needle into the syringe ready to draw a dose then squeezing the plunger as far in as possible with the needle immersed in the insulin. When the plunger is released a tiny drop of insulin is sucked up into the needle. When administering the dose I would insert the needle under the skin, again squeeze really hard on the plunger and hold the syringe in place for a count of several seconds so that there was time for the insulin droplet to be absorbed before retracting the needle. I'm sure the L&L specialists will be able to give you better info.

Incidentally Capoo's response to Lantus is very similar to Saoirse's; she tends to have early nadir's too. Her normal feeding schedule is similar to Capoo's.)

AMPS+3 and +4 are behind us, they occurred 4 hours ago, when I was driving back home with Capoo near me.
I will try to get some numbers tonight.
I will follow your advise, and post exactly the same message on the L&L board.
Of course, I will let you know in case of an OTJ trial, but I have red in a lot of studies that in order to have a strong remission, you should not stop abruptly the lantus intake, and give for as long as you can very small doses. I have shared my SS with my vet, and he shared it again on a diabetes board dedicated to vets only, and an endocrinology professor giving advises to them. The professor told to my vet that before trying an OTJ trial, you need to have a phase where you inject a very small amount only once daily.

I went from 0.25IU to zero on Saoirse's first OTJ trial and her numbers trended upwards after a couple of days.

The professor told to my vet that before trying an OTJ trial, you need to have a phase where you inject a very small amount only once daily.

Second time around I did what the professor recommended and her second OTJ trial was successful. She was in remission for the best part of a year until she had a pancreatitis flare in the later part of last year.

Would love to get an update on Capoo's progress now and again.
