Hi, My name is Peg and My cats name is Toby He was diagnosed with inflammatory Pancreatitis about a year ago. He was
Put on Prednisolone 2.5mg Twice Daily. A few weeks later he had diabetes. He take Bcp PZI insulin 4-1/2 units in the morning 5 units at night because his numbers are always higher in the morning. We started out at 2 units every 12 Hrs and that was working good for awhile untill we tried to cut down on the Prednisolone. Every time we did he got real sick ran a fever went off his food had to be syringe fed. Every time we did this his bg would increase. I would do curves and take them to the vets
and he was put on a higher dose of insulin. Now his numbers are running high most of the time. I've done a spreadsheet but,
don't know if I have enough information in it so you can get enough information to see what is going on. Toby is nine years old he's a tail less dsh. He just had a complete cbc and everything came back normal. I know steroid kitty's are sometimes hard to regulate but, Was hoping that you would have some suggestions. I was wondering if you think I may be giving to much insulin or not enough. Any Suggestions would be welcome. I've also posted in the health Forum. Also been wondering if another type of insulin would be better. Thanks, Peg And Toby

Hi Peg,

I post on PZI as well as Health. This forum is much smaller so be patient for people to answer. I am attaching your thread from Health.

As I said there, you could a reduction for a cycle, as you had an inverse curve. Or yes, one of the other insulins. Be sure to check out their forums. The relaxed Lantus one might be best for you as Levemir users also post there, and it uses a slower approach with less testing, which might fit your life style better.
