just wondering what everyone has had the best results with when it comes to canned food. I tried best feline friends chicken in gravy and seemed to up sugar levels in my cat herbert. Tried Evo 95% and none of my cats would touch it. Looking for a good canned food with lowest carbs possible. thanks

Every cat is going to respond differently to carbs, so there's no "one food" that we all feed. It takes a little experimentation with your own cat. We do use this Dr. Pierson's Food Chart and look for foods that are under 10% carbs (column C)
Friskies Pate's and Fancy Feast Classics are all low carb, affordable foods that you can use if money is tight.
Any food "with gravy" is usually high carb...but you can keep a few cans of high carb around if you're giving insulin in case you need it to bring your kitty's glucose up.
Are you giving insulin? If so, which one?
Are you home testing? It's important to learn how since our kitties can't tell us how they feel, so it's important to test...just like you would if you had a small child with diabetes. You wouldn't give insulin to a diabetic baby without knowing their Blood Glucose first..it's the same with our furkids!

My cats are fans of the Friskies Special Diet Pates (and they're lower in carb than the regular pates). They also love the Tiki Cat Chicken varieties, however those are fairly expensive so I only feed it to them once a day. It took me about 6 months of trial and error till I found a food that both of them liked and that Michelangelo wasn't allergic to (he's allergic to red meats). What I did was print out the list Chris posted above and highlight all the foods less than 8% carbs and took it shopping with me.

If you have access to PetSmart - even online - I have had wonderful luck with the poultry pate of PetSmart's own cheap brand "Grreat Choice".
I can get 5.5oz can for around $0.45 each and sometimes they have a sale down to about $0.39 each.
I did not think my picky eater would like it but tried and now she turns her nose up at the By Nature 95% varieties.
I thought my little princess had champagne taste when much to my relief she actually has cheap beer taste.
