Hi everyone, this is my 3rd post on this subject but i'm really stressed about our cat Binky. Long story short the vet said Binky has cancer that spread to his lymph nodes and all we can do is give him Prednisolone to "buy time", she's right about that we maxed out my mom's credit card. I don't think she gave him a big enough dose only 2.50 he's 8 pounds, I thought she was giving him 5mg, she said she wanted to start low due to his kidneys and that we should call her in 2 weeks to see how he's doing. She also said to stop the cerenia but as soon as i did he wouldn't eat and threw up so i called to get more cerenia. Chewy has it for 20 but the vet wants 40, i asked if they would match the price once and they said no. I'm calling tomorrow to see if I can get his dose raised. For the people here who's cats have trouble with their stomach is there anything else i can give him for his stomach.

I’m sorry about the cancer. Ondansetron works well for nausea but it’s a human medication that requires an RX. I would not stop cerenia unless you get ondansetron. I think you will need one or both from now on. I think you need 5 and possibly 10 of prednisolone. My cat who had lymphoma was on the chemo but her oncologist missed a uti that put her into end stage kidney disease and she was on 10mg for the rest of her life. She was on it for about 10 months.

What dose did the vet say to give? (sorry, lost in the references to "she" and "mom" and not sure who said what in your first post). If 2.5, that's quite low for a cat that size.

I agree with the above that you should try to get ondansetron. My girl ended up on both Cerenia and ondansetron.

I talked to the vet today and told her Binky wasn't doing much better 2.50mg Prednisolone so she agreed that he need more, now he's on 5mg and she said he may need 7.50 mg

I'm sorry to hear about your cat. The vet said she's putting him on 5mg and may go to 7.50. I'm am continuing the cerenia , the vet said to use it for a few more weeks but i do think he may need it long term

I may have just talked to you about this. Transdermal BUPE is great for cats who cannot keep food down.
Just tag me or the mixture and dosing is always near the top of my profile. Good luck Binky
