I nag newbies and others late in the week who are contemplating a visit to the vet, don't get stuck in an emergency clinic. Monday is a national holiday in Canada. I don't like to nag, it can be pretentious, but...
I have a possibly illogical, unhealthy seething hatred of emergency clinics that know you wouldn't be there if you didn't love your pet and seem to scan your wallet on the way in the door. No, turns out our dog did not have cancer. Yes, you murdered Noah's brother Andrew through sheer stupidity. You let Noah's brother Simon die on the waiting room floor because you didn't believe I knew what the words "unresponsive, trouble breathing" meant. I did not want to discuss "options" for my 23 year old cat who was already dead, he's suffering nitwit! Not a word of that is untrue. Don't wait until it's too late, please.
That's a rant I won't apologize for.

My vet clinic sends us an email each holiday as a reminder to get your food and prescriptions as they will have reduced hours on Saturday and closed Monday.

It is nice because you know the long weekend is coming but it is Tuesday and you don't think about putting the call in so they have time to order the meds if needed.

In 2017 the Victoria Day holiday is on Monday, May 22.

Victoria Day is a Canadian statutory holiday celebrated on the Monday preceding May 25 in every province and territory. It honours Queen Victoria's birthday.
In Quebec this holiday is called "National Patriotes Day" (Journée nationale des patriotes).

Victoria Day is also commonly referred to as the "May two-four weekend" or the "May long weekend" and it marks the unofficial start of the cottage season where cases of beer* are consumed by hard working Canadians. That's what we heard anyway. Or maybe it's called May two-four because May 24, 1819 is Queen Victoria's birthday :-)

See I share my birthday on a very important historical person!

And I am not sure where the author is from - but it is a flat of beer - 24's. Isn't that more of an eastern thing vs. western Canada?

I don't drink beer but I don't think we have the flat of 24 cans here - either 8 or a case of 15 cans. Not a lot of bottles available and if so it is the craft beer of 4 or 6 bottles.
