Hello Everyone,
I'm looking for a wet can food for Dillan. I was just looking for some input on what everybody is feeding in Canada? I know Janet and Binky's food pages but it doesn't show many Canadian brands, so I'm just looking for some feedback from everyone. Thanks everyone.

I'm not sure what you mean by canadian brands. We have the fancy feast, and the evo and the wellness. Many people also feed the PC brand foods. Just check that they are made with predominantly meat, avoiding the wheat/corn glutens, rice, starches and potato additives.
We have several BC members, so they may be able to guide you with what is available locally.

Where in Canada do you live Dillan? I am in BC.....on Vancouver Island. I feed Morris a combination of Friskies (Chef's Dinner & Chicken Dinner), Fancy Feast (Turkey & Giblets Feast), and I just started with some EVO as well (95% Venison, 95% Beef & 95% Chicken/Turkey).

I just discovered by accident today that Fancy Feast is on sale at Zellers.....5 for $3!

I live in BC as well, in Prince George. We went out and bought some Wellness food and then just one can of friskies for a hypo treatment (Beef and Gravy). It seems like no one actually carries the 95% EVO in town so I will have to special order some, which is alright. The with Fancy Feast it has wheat gluten as the 4th product (or around there) I'm not positive if thats good for them or not. Also Dillan would require around 5 cans of the fancy feast a day if I used that since he is close to 15 lbs (going by the recommended serving).

Also how big are the fancy feast cans you bought? 3.5 oz? You can purchase these at Wal-Mart for 50 cents.

Why does wellness use sweet potato in their ingredients if its bad?

don't buy a lot of any one food unless you can return it, as you may end up with something your cat doesn't like

FF only comes in 3.5 oz which is a pain; walmart is the cheapest source and superstore sells a very similar product under the finicky cat label.

ps hi from Calgary :)

Hi Dillan
I'm in Montreal and I too feel frustrated at the choices we have here.
We used to use Friskies, the pate legal kind per Janet & Binky and we switched over to FF
for no specific reason. We use the 3.5oz cans and yes we go through a lot in a day with 3 cats and Max needs at least 4 for himself. The only thing is that you cannot get the beef FF flavours in Canada and we try to limit the fish ones.
Wellness also is available and the good kind have a yellow triangle on them that says grain free. We tried those but they did not go over very well.
PC (presidents choice) also have low carb options.
Hope this helps.

Thank you everyone for chiming in. Keep the suggestions coming, at least with this thread it will let all the Canadians compare, since we are so limited with our food sources.

"I feed Morris a combination of Friskies (Chef's Dinner & Chicken Dinner)"

This. Converted my cats from dry to wet. Bigger cans, less hassle than FF
FF with 4 hungry cats= a case every 3 days

Hey Mike,

I answered in one of your threads in LL already, but since you're asking again -

I feed Wellness 5.5 oz, one can per day each cat. I alternate flavours between chicken and the turkey.

And I give PureBites/PureSnacks 100% freeze dried chicken treats for good behaviour.
