Can you leave Lantus out of refrigerator for a little while

I have read that Lantus may last over 30 days if refrigerated. I am a new lantus user.

Does Lantus sting if injected cold? I was wondering if my cat feels it more due to the that? Can you leave the vial out of refrigeration for 15- 20 minutes or not?
Or can I leave a filled syringe out for 10 minutes before injecting without comprosing the insuliln?
I have a vet appointment during the time I would normally give shot. My vet is 15 minutes away? I wanted the vet to watch me administer the insulin.

Can Lantus be transported with a cool pack or just in an upright position and then refrigerated when I get there?0 I paid over $200 for the vial. Is that about right? I didn't shop around?

If not, I can reschedule appointment.

We suggest keeping it cool so we don't have to buy a new vial every 28 days, but it can stand to be out for a little while. I think we've all forgotten it on the counter at some point, and several hours later found it and put it back in the refrigerator.

You should be fine if you leave it out for just a little while...Your vial may only last 5 months and 29 days instead of 6 months though

I think if it were me, I'd probably transport it to the vet with a cold pack just to keep it cool...you never know when you might be stuck in traffic or something.

$200 is on the high end. I paid $150 at a local pharmacy and WalMart wanted $168 ...it's worth shopping around

I've heard that it doesn't sting, especially as we are injecting such a small amount of it. :smile:
