Well it's been 3 weeks now. Jack has been doing great. he had a few higher numbers in the past few days (130 and 142) but comes right down. just did a spot check and he is 61 now. Can we finally celebrate, do you think???

Way to go Jack, Darlene and your son and daughter! What an inspiring story of a devoted family and a no-longer-so-sweet-but-still-extra-loved kitty!

LET"S BOOGIE!

Thanks everyone!!! Love all the little celebration kitties, tunaritas and catnip confetti!!! It sure is a reason to celebrate. I couldn't have done it without the help from kids for sure. But most of all, we couldn't have done it without the advice and support from ALL of you! You all are amazing! So these are for you!

Darlene, just stumbled upon this and OMG so happy for both of you. I remember how hard it was those few first weeks..few months...all the confusing numbers. This is fantastic. I must peek at your SS and see how you did it.
Hugs to you, Kisses to Jack.....Yay!!!!
Lori

Thanks Lori...yes, it was very confusing for a long time!! I certainly appreciated your help in trying to figure things out, and in switching to Levemir. For Jack, I think the key was shooting low to stay low for a while.

Thanks for your support and I hope you are doing well.

Hi Darlene! I am so sorry I didn't get to your party! There was some health issues going on with my Mom with surgery involved (she is recovering nicely now), and other things happening.

I am just so glad you decided to bite the bullet and stop giving insulin. I know how nervous you were about doing this. I am so proud of you and of Jack (AND your son and daughter who were so much help! :)

Thanks Pamela and Peggy, I am still partying here! Yes, I was nervous to just stop completely, then the whole week without power kind of threw Jack for a loop, but we made it through! And I agree, I could have never done this without my wonderful son and daughter who were so devoted to Jack. Jack is pretty happy now, especially since we put the Christmas tree up and he has his favorite cozy napping spot back...on the big tree skirt under the tree.
