Hi
My Jake and I have been members here for a little while.
After a ten month unemployment period, I finally got a part time job at Petsmart, which begins in August. However, I'm once again afraid I wil in out of insulin. I was blessed to receive a Lantus pen from a fellow member last month when Jake was receiving 6u 2x daily, so it is running low.

I'm wondering if anyone in southern CA ( or anyone willing to overnight) would be willing to donate a Lantus pen. Hopefully this will be the LAST time I will have to ask for help. I know it's a lot to ask, but I'm receiving no income until I start my job.

Thank you for your consideration!

1) check Craigslist for offers, and post a request there for anyone's unused pen remainders and that it is for your diabetic cat.
here's one near San Diego.

2) if you have a local Freecycle, post there (typically, you have to offer something first, before you make a request for something).

3) consider an online FundRazr or similar fund raising tool. Facebook often has links to these which would let you go see what the terms are for using them.

I looked on Craigslist for my area and Orange county, there is one add from someone in my area needing insulin. No sellers.

I saw a post here about a member selling their alpha trak, and they mentioned Lantus pens. I asked if they'd be willing to donate one and she/he's looking into overnighting one. People are so nice on here!

Where in SoCal are you at? I'm in OC. I don't use Lantus any more, but my pharmacy I go to always sells the pens individually so that might help on the upfront costs (only having to buy one pen at a time instead of 5).

I live in San Diego; specifically El Cajon. I usually get the vials at my Walmart, but I am going to ask my vet to prescribe the pen too. I'll ask the pharmacy if they do one pen at a time next time I go there. I also have a Lantus coupon, and will ask what the cost is with the discount.

But I think I only have a couple day's left in the pen I had donated a while ago, and haven't started my job yet.
