Martini was 3.5, drinking water again. I will test in another hour, gave her some FF with gravy as I'm scared.
What's going on? I'm pretty sure she will be sky high bounce tomorrow morning, but what if she isn't?
Continue 1.5??? Thank you ever so much!!!!

Because you're following SLGS, with that 63 you can reduce to 1.25 tomorrow morning, or if she is really high (like over 300) then you can shoot through the bounce for the one cycle and reduce the dose tomorrow evening.
I would get a +4, and you may be up for a while, just to let you know.

Thank you Dyana.. I'm scared and I will get a +4 for sure!!! What does shoot thru the bounce mean??

1/2 later test? I fed her 2 tbsp ff with gravy.
Sorry-I did read that but it didn't stick. You can do a +3.5 or +4 test. It's up to you. It will be okay.

Shoot through the bounce means if she's high in the morning, you do 1.5 again then do the 1.25 tomorrow evening to get her back down. But if she's at a "normal" number in the morning, you do 1.25.

Should I give her more with gravy or corn syrup or??? And thank you!!!!

What's going on all of a sudden????

I am totally useless in this. I read all the time here and cannot figure out why some people shoot the way they do. Took me ages to even get to test Martini by myself.
If she's up at +4, can I 'assume' she's safe for the night? Thank you!!!

I'm sorry to break the bad news, but you need 2 consecutive tests that are not food influenced. Let's see what +4 is. If it's up, don't feed and test again at +5.

You're not useless. You are doing a lot more than people who don't test do for their diabetic kitty.
No (sorry if that sounds harsh), if she's up at +4 that means the HC food in gravy has helped to raise her BG, but they can go down again pretty quickly once the gravy food wears off. If she is up at +4, you can try not feeding and then doing a +4.5 or +5 to see if she's still going up or surfing.

That's good right? Fed her but will do a bit of honey....Thank you!!!!!
Tried putting a few drops of honey on her gums - not a happy camper..

4.5 at +4.5 - hopefully going up... :nailbiting: I have not tested her in the evenings before for a number of reasons, but tonight's 10.4 made me. Thank God I did.

BTW, 3.4 is a safe number. You could have given her just some regular low carb food. The "take action" number is below 50 or 2.8.

Good job testing tonight. Martini is one of most cats that prefer going low at night, which is why we are usually a broken record about getting night time spot checks. Being high at preshot time is no guarantee they will stay high. Neko's first before 50'was on a cycle she started at 430.

3.4 is safe? WOW, I have a ton more to try to learn.
Honey? No Martini did not like it one bit.

6.6 at +5 Thank goodness. One more test at +6 and I'm done if it goes well. Night time spot checks for me are difficult as I'm oncall and paged constantly evenings due to a new system being implemented. I take my time in testing - singing, hugging, petting and that's hard evenings oncall. I will try more.

I used to use a drop of corn syrup (called Karo in the US) when Neko was really low. I would just put it on her food and she would lick it up. Easier than trying to put it on the gums.

If you have any other cats at home, try testing them. My non diabetic tested as low as 3.0.

I always wondered what Karo was! :) I will try that if this happens again (my heart can't take this!!!) I have corn syrup and honey on the counter ready.
I have Penny my other colony kitty who is very skittish. She only has really one good ear as the other was lopped off halfway I guess for vets (at the colony) to see she was spayed. Poor baby.
She would be extremely difficult to test to say the least, but will try at some point. Thank you all so very much for helping me thru this. +6 to go.

I also tested kitties of friends, who had older cats that were drinking more. Your little Penny sounds like she has been through a lot! I can't imagine lopping the ear, when tattoo will do.

Martini was not drinking so much - much more today tho for some reason. I don't know what Penny has been thru, and I can only imagine that's why half her ear is lopped off, maybe there were so many kitties in that colony that it was too hard to see a tattoo? I don't know, she's skittish, but a handful and happy now tho! :)

7.1 @+6. Going up, hopefully all will be ok. I can't keep my eyes open. Thank you to everyone!!!
