The vet said that he was doing well on 1 unit, twice a day, but that he could do better if we increase the dose to 1 1/2 units.

He vomited 3 times today. 1st was a hairball, 2nd was the other cat's kibble, but the 3rd time was after eating his special food.

And, if it isn't the insulin, does anyone know a good cure for cat nausea?

Good morning and welcome....

I can tell you that more information is needed and many will advise you to start a spreadsheet so that your kitty can be monitored by many experienced people on this forum. What is the special food that you’ve given him? If it’s from the Vet, many times the food they prescribe is super high I never carbs which is a big no-no for diabetic cats. You’ll find a ton of useful info on the main page that you’ll need to read.

What type of food are you feeding, are you testing blood levels? I can tell you that increases are down in .25 unit increments however, it all depends on the individual cats, weight and BG levels.

Davidson has never vomited due to insulin and it could be the sudden change of food that he’s eating.

More will post here, and perhaps in the mean time you can read some threads on this forum and gather up the information on you kitty for others to see.

You’re in great hands here, just be patient and you’ll get the assistance you need.
