Can a hairball affect the BG numbers? CC's PMPS was a little higher than usual, and I found a little spot where she puked with just a bit of hair in it... so I'm thinking she's working on getting up a hairball. Hate seeing that yellow number after just blues and greens all week. ah well.

To echo Jill's response Yes..Yes..Yes.. Any sort of stress can cause glucose numbers to rise. Throwing up a hairball is definitely a stressful situation even for a non-diabetic kitty.

The short answer: Yes! :)

Even my non-diabetic kitties BG numbers will rise a little bit when experiencing any kind of stress. Constipation is another one. As soon as they find relief, their numbers go right back down.
Ok. Hopefully it will pass soon. She's a bit crankier than usual tonight too, so maybe it's making her belly hurt.

Plus we had trouble shooting her tonight. For whatever reason the needle just didn't want to go in. Tried once, didn't work, tried twice didn't work and bent the needle a bit. Like it just wouldn't go through the skin. Wound up chucking it and getting a new one... even that one had a tough time getting in but she finally got her dose. We've been moving around where we inject so it's not the same exact spot all t he time. she hates the injection anyway, and to have to poke at her three times sucked big time for all of us. (sigh) Such a stressful week. Father in law had a stroke a few days ago, neighbor with dementia needing my help, school starting (prek for my son and we are both teachers so stressful time). I need the weekend to be relaxing. and I need a good night of sleep. Thanks for letting me vent. ha

Janet you have had so much stress so close together. And all the demands for your attention are sure to drain your energies. As wonderful as it is how much you are helping others, please remember to take care of yourself as well. :bighug: :bighug: :bighug:
