She is coasting along now. No real changes good or bad. Resp rate is 23-32/min, which is good. BG has been around 100, but she was up to 141 yesterday so I shot .05u. I'm just going by "as needed" for now. She has been on the pred for a week. I don't know when she might start to loose BG control if she is going to. I was wondering why that happens? Is it increased insulin resistance from the steroid? Oh, maybe its the increased circulation of cortisol from the steroid that increases the BG. Hmmm...
I made a big pot of high collagen chicken broth last night and started her on it. I'm planning on 2 Tbl bid because I have no idea what a good "dose" should be. I'm giving it to Beau as well and a little bit to the two others so they don't feel left out.
I feel like I am running a clinic in my home! I know some of the rest of you feel like that as well. I'm not sure how much more one little cat can handle. Right now she is getting:
AM
Pepcid
Every other day Prozac
B12 shot once a week
Insulin if needed
Broth
Afternoon
Denamarin
PM
Baytril
Prednisolone
Broth
Beau also gets meds am and pm (methimazole, diltiazem, B12) and everyone gets treats. And they all get probiotics, enzymes, and taurine added to their food, but that isn't new.
Cami is still peeing outside the LB. The most frustrating thing is that she will go to the pee pad and then sit right on the edge, facing in and pee over the side into the carpet. Arrrgh! I tried a boot tray (has a 1-1/2" lip on it, with a pad inside and she peed over the side once and on the pad once. Or someone else peed on the pad. I wish I knew how to fix this. Also, I wish I knew why she is still drinking and peeing so much. It isn't the FD, hyperT or kidney issues. I don't know what else there is to test for.
