She has graduated to 2X week testing! 64 last Mon and 78 today.
I think her fur is starting to fill in, beginning with her ruff. It makes her look like she has a huge, fat neck because the rest of her is still skinny (except that bloated belly). I keep trying to get a photo of her, but she tends to either be sitting in front of a window and even with the flash that's a tough exposure (black against light), or she is down in front of the front door where there a no windows and very little light and the flash doesn't reach that far.
She gets on the sofa regularly now, lounges on the carpet in the LR near the patio doors when the sun is coming in, gets on my old, high drafting chair (for working at a drawing table - who does that any more?!), and sometimes gets on the bed when I coax her - although she has to walk all the way around to the far side of it to get up for some reason. She has also ventured up to the window ledge, which is a shelf I mounted just below the very narrow sill, and has tried chewing on the plants - just like all the other cats do. These are all things that she did not do at all for the first 2-3 months. We just passed the four month mark 10 days ago.
And I recently discovered that she likes to bite plastic bags that are rolled into a ball so now I need to keep those away from her, but at least she seems to be thinking about playing.
I am trying to reduce the fat in her diet to see if that helps at all with her belly issues, plus she was started on B12 shots 3 weeks ago. And I gave her plain yogurt this morning and will see if that helps. The vet suggested it. He also said to make sure her diet was gain-free. This is the first time I have heard "reasonable" diet suggestions from anyone at that practice. It made me check the PetSmart Great Choice food that I mix with Wellness and I don't see any grains listed. No rice even. Interesting. It does, of course, have meat by-products. I am using it to stretch my food dollars and since Wellness is high fat, I am going to increase the amount of GC from 1:1 to 2:1 and see if that helps her any.
Anyway, she is doing really well except for the occasional peeing on the rug. Wish we could get that stopped. Sigh.
