For some reason my SS isn't loading right - wants to load the 2012 page for some reason even though the 2013 page is farthest to the left. She's been as high as the 160s, hence the shot two days ago, but was in the 80-90s at shot times yesterday.

The peeing outside the box is still an issue, but I took up my area rugs and put down puppy pee pads. So far, she has used those for the last couple of days. I can't figure her out. I have watched her walk right over to a LB and get inside to pee, but find the pee pads soaked when I wake up or have been in another room. For about 36 hrs I had the pads on top of the area rugs, but she would just go anywhere on the rugs even on the plastic runner I had over one with the "teeth" facing up. So, no area rugs for me, I guess. I think my favorite one is ruined, unfortunately. It was one I really liked too. Will try to have it professionally cleaned and then roll it up for the future, I guess. The other one is a 4x6 piece of indoor/outdoor carpet, so cheap and not worth caring about - but I can probably hose it off.

I am still waiting to start B12 shots. Maybe tomorrow if I can be home all day. Today I have to take my aunt to the doctor and then go to the chiropractor so will be gone for a good 6-7 hrs. I am sure I have nothing to worry about, but reading that there can be a rare allergy to the cobalt in it that causes anaphylaxis is enough to make me wait until I can be here for at least 6-8 hrs. I have never heard here of any such reactions, so I am probably being too cautious and if there is a reaction I am not sure what I can do about it other than rush them to the vet. Since anaphylaxis can kill in minutes that might not help.

And I want to get cosequin for her for joint/arthritis and urinary tract health. Waiting on money for that.

I feel for you with the LB issues, what a nightmare, but if you broke her of it once before maybe you can again, it might just take some time now that the company is gone.

Good luck with the B-12 shots.

Well, she was 163 tonight - so she got .05u.

I was gone all day, again, plus I fed a flavor I don't usually use about two hours before that. Either, or both, of those could have been a factor.

Can you confine her to one room without the rugs? Moochie Pooch had some issues. We ran every test, tried everything... and eventually ended up using Kitty Prozac. The final alternative was putting him outside... which I didn't feel good about, since he's FIV+ - and the vet is the one that initially said to either destroy him or keep inside when he was dx'ed. The drugs are working. I'm thrilled, and so much happier, as I'm not scrubbing constantly. And he's happier.

As for the rugs, I buy white vinegar to use with pet bedding (and formerly rugs - which I no longer have) in the laundry. Don't know if your rugs will allow you to do that, but it's amazing how it takes the smell out.

Good luck!

She got the rest of that can of food (Wellness Beef and Chicken) later and was lower this morning, so I don't think it was the food. She was 83 and 75 this am and pm, so she is at +25 now, I think.

I really don't want to confine her, but I will if I have to. She may need to be crated because when I had her confined to one room in the beginning she started peeing on the furniture as well as the rug - I can't take the furniture out of there.

I am not sure what I will do with the good rug. I might try the vinegar. The other tug I will spray with Simple Solution and let the enzymes breakdown the urine bacteria and then I will hose it off - maybe after dosing it with vinegar. It's in my bath tub right now. The good rug is draped over an open ladder, which Cami walks under all the time! Actually, that is where I put the pee pad in that room

You just have to wonder if she has seperation anxiety, because it seems like on the days you have to be away from her all day her numbers shoot up. Or when your focus i.e. your mom being there again her numbers go up. Maybe she worries that if you aren't there all the new goodness in her life will disappear. Autumn was that way for awhile, if I had to spend the day outside the house running errands etc her numbers would skyrocket, and she would be really clingy for a couple of days, it took her about 4-5 months to realize that mom was always going to come home again. Autumn would also freak out at first if I was late with the meals, now she realizes food will alway show up...it might be a few minutes late but it would be there.

Wish I knew what to tell you about the LB issues, but I have a civie right now that is driving me nuts with that problem too, except instead of the rugs around here ours is peeing on the kitchen counters. So right now our answer is to crate her at night and when we are gone. I just have her crate in the livingroom where she can still see everyone and feel like part of the family without her bully of a sister from beating on her when mom isn't here to referee.

Good Morning, Everyone ~

Haven't been around in ages but just happened to check in this morning. Sheila, we've had that same problem with several of our cats over the years peeing outside their litterboxes. A couple of things we've found to help with the problem are Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract litter and regular use of Feliway spray where our cats were peeing inappropriately and around their litterboxes. Maybe you've already tried these?

There's a money back guarantee if Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract litter doesn't work as described.

Hi, Mel...we have two cats that pee on our kitchen counters. Why the kitchen counters? After cleaning off the pee thoroughly, we spray Feliway on and around the counters and this has helped reduce the problem. If we don't continue with the Feliway spray though, the peeing starts again. Heck, we should own stock in Feliway :-D because it really works for us with regular use.

Have a pleasant day.

Mel, I don't know it its separation anxiety, but she does have anxiety over me being gone. Also, her regular sleeping place is the mat in front of my front door - so resource guarding, right? She was doing that before, but it was the rug where my hallways meet and where you have to walk past (person or cat) to get anywhere from anywhere.

The other thing, and I can't remember if it was you that pointed it out is that the getting on the bed for cuddles is because she is totally freaked out and needing assurance. The ONLY times she has done it is up in MI where I took her after just one week, and after my mother yelled at her and shoved her off the bed. She is back to not wanting me to pick her up and put her up there and she won't stay if I do.

Eva, I have not tried Feliway yet with Cami. I did try it with Jeddie and it didn't work with him. I might still have some, but does it expire? It would be 3 years old by now. I also haven't tried Cat Attract yet either. I have been trying different litters in one of the boxes to see if I find one she likes. Maybe that will be next. It's just so expensive.

Hi, Sheila ~

Yes, there is an expiration date on the Feliway spray bottle, and we've found that a bottle loses its effectiveness over time. Also, for us anyway, it took repeated use of the Feliway spray over a few weeks to start seeing a difference. And I know Feliway likely doesn't work for all cats. Wish it weren't so darn expensive, but we always keep some on hand.

My sister-in-law uses Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract litter for her two cats that were peeing outside the litterboxes. She told us that she's able to sprinkle the Cat Attract on top of her regular litter (Tidy Cats), and it still stops the inappropriate urination. Might be worth trying to cut down on the cost.

Sheila, you're doing such a beautiful job taking care of sweet Cami. Thank you!

Take care,
Eva
