My kitty has lost over half his weight. I don't limit his food either. Is there a safe calorie booster we can give them without spiking their sugar? TIA

Is his BG relatively well-regulated? Have you taken him to the vet to get checked out? Losing that much weight quickly really isn't normal, and probably won't respond to just a diet change without getting at the underlying cause.

The vet also may have some kitten food or "recovery" food like A/D-- designed to be calorie-dense. With a cat who has lost that much weight (assuming it isn't from unregulated diabetes itself), I wouldn't worry overmuch about carbs until you've figured it out and he's gotten the weight back.

I always add some water to my cat's wet food and mix it in. If instead of water, you could mix in some all meat baby food (no onions or garlic) to his food, that would add some extra calories.
I used to use Iams Maximum Calorie, but sadly they don't make it anymore. I would see if you can get some of the a/d cat food and add it to his regular food regimen.
When you go to the vet, ask them to check his thyroid too, if it hasn't been tested recently.
