Hello everyone!
After agonizing far more than is seemly, I have decided to try the Basaglar instead of Lantus. I figure since I have no experience with a depot insulin, now's the time to try it. I was going to order from Marks Marine Pharmacy and I see they offer both cartridges and kwikpens for the same price. Any suggestions for which I should go with? Are there pros and cons with each??

Thanks in advance!

Lantus was packaged either as a cartridge or pen in the US when it first came out. It is still available the same way in Canada. I preferred the pen. The pen contains a cartridge. The advantage, at least for me, was that the glass cartridge is encased in plastic. If you drop the pen, there's a much less chance that the cartridge will shatter due to the plastic case. If you drop the cartridge, it's much more likely you've lost all of your insulin.

Do NOT use the pen tips. You still want to use a syringe to draw up your insulin. The calibration on the pens will not allow you to dose in any amount less than 1.0u.

I agree with Sienne....the only difference is the plastic around the pen and it adds a little extra protection in case you drop it

You buy regular insulin syringes and pull the insulin out of both, so it's totally a matter of preference.
