1 unit looks good.

I see you are from NC--me too! The vets here are crazy--yours wanted you to give 9 units of PZI--mine wanted me to only dose once a day. My vet just about killed Kitty! Maybe NC would be a good site for the Prozinc makers to have a big vet conference!

No, one unit should be fine. Can you get any tests in today - around +6? She had beautiful numbers yesterday - regulated kitty numbers.

That's not a bad idea!
My vet started her out on 5 units for 3 weeks before she went in for her first curve. That day, she was bumped up to 6. Had to report #'s next day, bumped her up to 7, then 8, now just this past Friday, he said 9!!!
After doing some reading and with the guidance of these angels I made a diet switch and went to just 1 unit. And my oh my--what a difference!
I am so grateful to this board.

Sue, yea, I was planning on just going easy on her today. I am going to get +6 #'s and then pmps and see where she is. I am really tempted to see where she is now, but I promised her I wouldn't prick her ears to much today. And she gave me that look like she knew what I was saying and I better follow through. Then she gave me that "lovey -eye" blink thing and,well.....that's the way it is!!!

OMG, thank god you trusted us enuf to drop dose.
but is this not an example of the resiliency of a kitty to go low, bounce, and all the while stay healthy and not die?
this might be considered a cat overdosed in epic proportions and yet....look at him/her? (sorry)
this kitty likely saw some pretty scary numbers during that previous dose....and the resiliency of the living body is epic.
please mommies, don't be too terrified of those lower numbers. we don't aim for them...we fix them (usually over fix them) but they are not killers.
it is commonly said they are killers.
but if you are here, if you are testing, you and your kitty will do fine.
:YMHUG:

Very nice numbers....and I'm jealous you got to go back to sleep! After she kept us up all night Thumper has gone back in the 300's? Such a roller coaster. Lori, I'm trying to get it. :?

fwiw I am guessing the food played a big part - w/d is crazy carbs, what, 35% or something? that's like double what we have in a hypo toolkit :o who knows really without more data.... and I agree kitties are pretty amazing & resilient!!!!

I love it that she is getting good results too, so often it takes a while to see that... the instant gratification is a definite plus!!!!

pmps is 30 min. early but I couldn't help myself. I just had to know where she was and she's back in the pink-
356--but---I'm ok with that. I mean heck, 3 days ago she was on 8 units and had those #'s.
I think she has inflated numbers due to stress. We went shopping at Petco today. She seems to enjoy herself in there. She LOVED watching the ferrets play, but she doesn't really care to much for car rides. She thinks she's going to the vet when we get in there. Cries the whole time, UNTIL, we have been in the car longer than it takes to get to the vet!!! Then magically, everything is fine! She's smart.
I need to shoot in 30 mins., ya'll think I outta just stick with 1 unit?

Don't know about the dose but I find it hilarious that you take her to Petco! My cats hate leaving the house. Boy when I pull that carrier out they all scramble! I have to make sure whoever is going is already confined or I would never find them. My poor hyper T kitty peed all over me the last time I had to take her in for blood work! ohmygod_smile

Yes! Love a kitty who enjoys a visit to the kitty fud store :-D
Joanna...Sue told me about the food change after I posted that.
Soooooooooo, that is the reason this kitty survived the high doses.
I was wonderin how the heck she was so well maintained. She had all those carbs to deal with.
Thank you for the info I shoulda known but did not.

I would stick with the one unit. Her other numbers were all good, so I'd chalk the higher number to stress or a small bounce.
The wonders of food change!
Hugs from Maisey and me.

I agree - one unit for a few more cycles. Have you found a lo carb treat: Lo carb treats And you may get lower numbers if you switch to a lower carb wet - I think you got some higher carb flavors your first trip to the store?

Just wanted to say hello and welcome. I'm one that the diet change made a huge difference for too. Before I found FDMB, my cat Max had just been upped to 4u of PZI and was still unregulated. Then I found and followed the wonderful advice here, changed Max's diet to a low carb wet (FF Classic), and his dose dropped dramatically. Sounds like you're doin' good with some really nice #'s today. Yay! Hopefully, PMPS is just a little stress.

That's hiLARious the trip to Petco! She is a smarty pants knowing how far away the vets are, wow! I don't think mine are that smart. Or maybe b/c the specialist is 1/2 hour away they just don't know which horror of horrors is in store today. And of course we never tried Petco so they have no "fun" outting to compare it to. I can't even imagine trying it frankly!
