I was up very late last night. To much to read at this place!
Her +11(ish) this morning was 169.
I gave her her breakfast meant to test her again in an hour, but I never heard the alarm.
At 9:00 she tested 180 and her breakfast was 6:30. From what I learned last night, now might be a good time to giver her a little push?
If so, how much do you think would be good?

Angela & Callie Mae

I would suggest, as Joanna did, somewhere around a fat.0 - like a drop. Do you think you can measure that? Some people put a tiny bit of insulin in the syringe and then squirt out some till they have a drop. Then inject.

Get tests in. It will help us to see how and if that tiny amount impacts her numbers. Then we'll know more about what to do in the future.

Sounds good.
I am going to wait until 9:30, just to see where she's at.
If she is coming down, I should probably wait though, right. I think that's what I read last night. I can't keep it all straight. When there is so much to read! All so interesting. I stumbled into the think tank last night, which had me clicking links to take me here there and everywhere. Kept me busy for sure!!! Very intriguing stuff.

Yes, you want to make sure she is not coming down below the 150 mark or so, on her own. "Usually" kitties who go back up in the 180s need a little boost of insulin, but she has been full of surprises!

Well, she went from 180 at 9:00 to 170 at 9:30
She is full of surprises, this one!
So since she is still over the 150, I should go ahead and give her the drop, or just keep waiting since she is on her way down again?
Sorry if it's clear and I'm just not getting it. Really tired this morning and allergies acting up. Must'a sneezed 100 times just typing this.

That is not really a drop in numbers. Have you read about the 20% variance in meter results? (you are learning so much so fast! ) I think it is safe to give a drop.

you can do a drop with either a u40 or u100 syringe. Pull in the insulin and push the plunger so that it is barely touching the 'zero line'. That is what many here call a fat zero dose (it is around 0.1u of insulin). I'd give the extra little help and see where that takes her. With the spot checks today you will be able to tell if you can take it up to a 0.2u safely, or need to keep this booster at 0.1u.

another way to look at this Angela is that the pancreas, while doing it very best, is still a little stressed and you can give it this break in trying to keep up with getting rid of all those darn bg's.
ya know...so it can take a little rest.

I'm so excited for you and Callie. Looks like you've been getting some very lovely #'s and are really close to OTJ (anti-jinx, paws crossed). Have you seen Mandie and Bradley's posts/spreadsheet (someone else on the PZI forum; someone else may have mentioned them already)? Literally, it took one dose of a drop and Bradley went green and stayed there on his own. I would say most kitties need the support of a drop of insulin longer than one dose but ya never know. Anyway, Callie is doing wonderful. Yippee!!! Paws crossed for a great #'s today. Can't wait for an update.

I would think it's fine to give 0.2 if you shoot again. You were giving 1u before, so I wouldn't stress a lot over the dose, even 0.5 I would think is probably ok (but check with others before shooting!). I'm not sure how much either you have to worry about a rising # test once you are well past +12. It's one thing if you are shooting at +8.... once you are at +24, I wouldn't worry about it. If she isn't bringing herself back below 150 I would think she needs insulin. Again check with others though before shooting! I'm definitely not a microdose expert.

totally agree with joanna. you can shoot lower than other folks here. you can micro shoot 150. why? cause you know exactly what you are looking to accomplish. just taking a wee bit of strain off the pancreas...not alot...just getting her green so the organ can vacation for an hour.
again...callie mae is different. you can shoot small amounts ... low dose.
