Amazing numbers!
Gonna test her again in 30 minutes.
I'm curious where she'll be.
She's eating breakfast right now so we will see.
I have a feeling I will be taking a trip to Walmart today for some U100 syringes.Better start practicing those micro doses!

30 minutes later and she's up to 190.
Should I keep testing her and give her 1u when she goes over 200 or should i just give her .5u?

Will you be around today to test? If so, I think I would try one unit. You are getting lovely numbers and none have been near hypo range. As long as you will be around or leave out food, she should be okay.

The tricky part of this is that the wet food is still kicking in and we have to figure it, as well as the insulin, can be influencing the numbers downward.

Thanks guys.
Yes, I'm going to be around all day except one tiny trip into town for an errand.
I'm gonna get a few spot checks.
will be interesting to see if the trend (lower bg overall) continues.
She's on a completely wet diet now. And our trip to petco landed us the correct varieties! The high carb grocery store collection is being returned today.
And whoever suggested the freeze dried chicken treats, THANK YOU. She loves them.
Although I do have to say,
when we left the petco yesterday and was back in the car, I opened the bag to give her one. In true cat fashion, she snubbed her nose at them. I thought, well great! Sooo, along the route home there is an oriental market so I stopped in there to see if they had anything freeze dried. If they did, I couldn't find them and the clerk was no help.
Long story short, before dinner last night I tried again along with some soothing words..you know..coaxing
"come on. just TRY it. I know you'll like it. Stop being so damn stubborn!"...lol, but the little thing reached out her neck and took the treat from my hand. It was all over after that. She wanted more and more and more....which is how I left her. Wanting more. So now those are her favorite....this week!...

Beachin, I wish at some point when you feel like it you will share this food miracle on the health board for newbie's to read, some of whom are slow to adopt the notion that low carb wet IS part of the treatment.
Actually, when you are ready you may want to visit the health room now and then to find a newbie posting for the first time (they are always easy to spot as thier posts sound...like 'HELP NEW" kind of) and impress upon them the importance of diet change.

Careful what you wish for...........
No, really, thank you for your kind words. That really means a lot especially since I have only been a member of this board for 1 week today. With that in mind, I doubt to much that anyone would listen to what I have to say. I will however, share my experience with a wet diet after being prescribed up to 9 units twice a day. The proof is in the pudding after all, and there is no doubt about it that after switching to wet, she is currently only getting 1 unit doses, and the ONLY thing different is the diet change. Which, I would have never even considered had it not been for all you fine folks! You guys have literally helped me save her life.
Her +6 numbers btw were 98!!
Woo-hoo!!! :RAHCAT

Woohoo is right...really great #'s today for Callie!!! That +6 is beautiful and deserves another cheer...go Callie! You're a newbie but your experience with the diet change is invaluable to other newbies that are hesitating cause the vet recommended something different or dry is easier. I've even saved the short version of my similar story (more and more insulin and still high #'s, changed diet and wow dose dropped, every cat is different but diet so worth a try) to post on some of the newbie posts cause it can make such a huge difference. I like stories and I think it shows more than telling what a difference diet can make. You and Callie have a great story. So glad she is doing better.

Beautiful numbers!!! I would consider pulling her dose back a hair. You got a steep drop last night by +4 and an unshootable PS this morning. No dangerous #s, but I would probably go with a skinny 1u to be on the safe side, and possibly only 0.8.

On your SS for this morning, can you put the actual PS you shot on in the AMPS column and a note saying what time it was (e.g. +12.5, +13, or whatever it actually was). Just so no one thinks you shot on 141 and got the 98 nadir - it was actually more like a 200 PS right? Don't mean to sound critical, just want to be sure no one gets confused (like me, lol!) and gives you incorrect advice based on misreading the #s. With a late shot the insulin has a little less oomph, so that dose may be too strong on a 150 PS at a regular +12 (which you wouldn't realize if you thought the shot was on a 141 at +12).

Anyhoo... :-D

I'd probably go for a bedtime spot check too if you can, just to be sure tonight's shot wasn't too strong. I think it will be fine, but if it were me I would double check for data gathering purposes & safety check.
