Monitoring and hoping...
Monitoring and hoping...

I would test her at +5 manually if you can and take it from there. If she’s still dropping, test her again at +6 or +7 depending on how fast she’s dropping. You’ll have to play it by ear I’m afraid. It looks like Callie's numbers are starting to drop (and/or possibly the libre was giving crazy numbers for a while?)... it was working until +2 tonight and then gave us a few error messages before we decided to manually test at 2.5. (Of course, this is also the first time Callie gave us trouble when we tried to get a drop of blood from her ear....) The number we got using the one-touch ultra 2 at + 2.5 was 186. So my question: do you think we need to try to test every hour tonight if the libre doesn't start working again (or maybe even if it does if the libre numbers could be totally off?) My reading of Callie's last few days is that her nadir is generally +5/+6 so maybe we just need to watch her and make sure we test then? But I am not sure if we can go by the last few days since her numbers really weren't moving much.
Please let me know what you all think. We will of course do whatever we have to do to keep her safe but since she had such a negative reaction to the manual test this time, we would prefer to avoid doing it hourly if it isn't necessary and I am just not sure I understand her numbers well enough to judge that myself... Also trying to figure out sleep schedule (if there is to be any...) Thanks!
You could give her some LC but HC is not needed now.Hi - just had a little scare (for us. I know we are going to have to get used to navigating lower numbers...) We got a low BG alarm from the libre just before +5. BG = 75 w downward arrow. We gave Callie some LC food with a tiny bit of her old HC food and tested on the one touch. At 1:05am one touch read 94 and libre read 93 at 1:07am so they are very close. We just tested again using libre and she is 82 at 1:17am. Should we give her more higher-carb food? Sit tight?
when you have some time/sleep please mark the +5 cell in dark green, congratulations on the green value
We all have been there when we were used to red and at best pinks and we started getting greens, i know it is very scary plus give yourself some credit, it is the middle of the night
It will get easier![]()

Do you have a human meter you can verify the low Libre readings with? We have seen Libres give some wonky low readings.911 Update - another low alarm just before I checked libre reading at +8.5 = 70 and sloping down. Pushing another LC snack on her. Is this correct?
Thank you Bhooma for stepping in, i was just writing a message to tag you911 Update - another low alarm just before I checked libre reading at +8.5 = 70 and sloping down. Pushing another LC snack on her. Is this correct?

70 is a safe number and LC should be enough this late in the cycle.
Thank you both. I really hope I'm not keeping/waking anyone up. This is just all very new to us and definitely more frightening in the middle of the night with no sleep... I really appreciate the help.Thank you Bhooma for stepping in, I was just writing a message to tag you![]()
Not urgent so don't bother waking him up.I can try to wake him or try myself if you think it is urgent
I'm in India and it's the afternoon for me. So you aren't keeping me up. Happy to helpThank you both. I really hope I'm not keeping/waking anyone up. This is just all very new to us and definitely more frightening in the middle of the night with no sleep... I really appreciate the help.
the reason for a second test is that sometimes meters give wrong readings, we have the habit to double check if the number seems a bit off, in this case a drop of 80 points in half an hour at +8 seemed a bit weird. I see that you changed the value, did you manage to get a second test? Thanks. I do have a one touch ultra meter and we checked both when she was in the low 90s earlier and they were almost identical at that number. My partner is asleep now and I am not sure I can take manual BG on my own because Callie has been fighting us with it today. I can try to wake him or try myself if you think it is urgent.
i am as well on the other side of the worldThank you both. I really hope I'm not keeping/waking anyone up. This is just all very new to us and definitely more frightening in the middle of the night with no sleep... I really appreciate the help.

Ok good but ditto what I wrote to Bhooma. No, no second test those are all libre numbers. I moved the lower number I got at + 8.5 to the notes section since it was a different color than the +8. Sorry to confuse things. She is bouncing around quite a bit - up 80+ and down 80+ but she has been eating quite a bit when her numbers go lower.the reason for a second test is that sometimes meters give wrong readings, we have the habit to double check if the number seems a bit off, in this case a drop of 80 points in half an hour at +8 seemed a bit weird. I understood that you didn’t take a second test at +8.5, i was just trying to explain the reason behind it so next time you understand the reason of the questionOk good but ditto what I wrote to Bhooma. It is definitely safe to sleep the 2 hours now you poor beingUpdate - 206 @ +10 with an arrow straight up on the libre so I think it is probably okay for me to try to take a quick nap before morning insulin (in less than 2 hours.) I still have the libre's low alarm on high volume in case there is any funny business between now and then but given this number and how late in the cycle we are, I am sure it will be fine. I'll start a new thread with Callie's AMPS. Huge thank you again to Marina, Marje and Bhooma for helping us get through tonight. Without you all, I would have lost it completely.![]()

Regarding the 70, it is actually recommended you put it in the same cell as the +8 and color the cell in the color belonging to the lowest value you measured.

Glad we were helpful and hopefully tomorrow she will continue the progress but in less adventurous drops![]()
