I got up early to start Calley on a proper curve. I tested her at 8am and she was at 247.

+2 258
+4 308 (however the first test said 62 and I tested again and got 308....so what do I go with?)
missed +6 (school registration took too long)
+8 115

She has had two small meals and she has kept them down.

I will test again at PMPS time.

Why would the +4 number go higher? Shouldn't it be lower than the +2?

Looks good! You'll probably want to try to get another one fairly soon that gets that +6 number since it looks pretty clear that she had her low point in between +4 and +8 (as is pretty much guaranteed for Lantus). That's the specific number you're trying to get in order to safely adjust dosing, but every number you get helps!

The numbers usually increase for 1-3 hours after eating (very roughly), so an increase at +4 isn't strange at all. It just means that she ate and the sugars in the food were "stronger" than the insulin in effect at that time. So the 308 would be normal, particularly because it dipped down again after that. But, at the same time, the 62 would also be normal if she processed the food quickly, though I wouldn't trust that number myself because it's my understanding that your chances of getting a false low reading are much higher than getting a false high reading.

After you have a few more curves though, you'll start to see what Calley's own curve pattern is.

I'd recommend taking a bit of time to try to learn how to enter the numbers on the spreadsheet so that we can all see this great data you're gathering in a way that makes it possible to translate it into suggestions. I know it's daunting, but I promise that now that Mel has set it up for you, it's actually easier than typing out the numbers here!

For instance, to record today, you put 8/3 under the date column and then 247 under AMPS, the dose you gave under"U", 258 under +2 for that row, etc... Then I'd put the 63 value in the notes.

Betting it was the 62 as that makes more sense with the other numbers.

Unless she had eaten right before the test. Food will always cause a rise sometimes a minor one and sometimes a spike just depends on the cat.
