I have a question. Calley had her curve done on Friday 6/13/14. Since that day when her insulin was increased up to 8 units/2x daily....she is no longer drinking as much and hardly pees. Is this a good thing or do I now have to worry about her not peeing? I'm so used to her drinking all day and peeing several times a day, that now I don't know what is normal for her.

I am feeding her 1/2 can of food 2x daily. TMI....but her poops are now solid and formed where they were runny and diarrhea like for a long time.

Are these signs that she is finally regulating?

I don't have the money to go and get all the supplies to test her daily and check her several times myself...just the syringes and insulin about breaks me as I have three other geriatric pets I'm trying to provide for.

Please tell me what I should be looking for to gauge if she is regulating.

Thank you
Kristin and Calley

We like to take an overall view of the cat, not just the glucose numbers.
One way is the 5 Ps, aka whole cat report
Purring / showing contentment
Playing / or normal activity
Peeing / normal amounts are roughly 1/2 cup a day in 1 or 2 voids
Pooping / consistency, volume, and color are normal
Preening / grooming normally

Calley is still sleeping a lot and still drinks a lot. She is still eager for food and will eat almost the amount I give her. But the peeing has dropped considerably. I will continue to watch her closely to see if coat is being groomed etc.

Thank you

BJM has that Secondary Monitoring Tools link in her signature. Just go up to her most recent post and click on that link for some other ways to monitor Calley.
