So, Calley has started a new and very annoying habit. She is now jumping on the counters and eating whatever she can find. She is so hungry that I found her today chewing on an oven mit that had a trace/stain of whatever was last taken out of the oven a few days back. She is licking the counter tops and jumping on the table while we eat.

She is up to 2 units/twice a day and her numbers have not come down at all. Most mornings she is in the mid 300's and most evenings she is in the 400's.

I've stayed away from posting since I don't know what I want/need to do about any of it.

Her drinking and peeing have regulated....it just seems to be the hunger issue.

Right now as I type this she is licking a placemat on the dining room table. :(

Kristin and a terribly hungry Calley

Short answer: Feed more food, up to 50% more than normal. Add 1-2 tablespoons of water to provide volume.

What are your most recent glucose test mid-cycle? She may need a dose increase OR decrease, as not enough insulin doesn't let the glucose be used, so she's hungry and too much insulin requires more food to counter it.

Is she losing or gaining weight? Losing suggest a need for more food and/or insulin too, depending on glucose tests.

I don't see the most recent numbers on your spreadsheet; what have the nadirs been like?

Lantus dose adjustments are based on the nadir, not the pre-shots. And the Start Low, Go Slow protocol has you hold the dose for a week, whereas the Tight Regulation protocol has you hold it for 3 days at the same level. Both have guidelines for when to increase.

Also, bouncing takes about 3 days to clear.
