hey all, so my kitty now has crf stage 2.

She was in remission thanks to all of you :-) now back on lantus but hat can you do.

my question is anyone here giving there cats Calcitriol for CRF.? Kittys on it, but her PTH levels aren't coming down. Vets around here aren't familiar with calcitriol. we are starting her on the 3.5 day pulse dose i thought from my research it would help. Could use some encouragement :-) if you al had better luck with the 3.5 dose.
take care and thank you

thank you very much. I will check it out.
My other problem. I can't keep my kitty regulated anymore. She's been in remission since July then diagnosed with kidney failure 2-3 stage in jan. Renal food being high carb she's back on lantus. :-(
Started out with a small amt of insulin 1/16 to 1/8 of a unit numbers kept around 125 -140 ish. Past 2 wks or so she has jumped upwards to 170 once at 218. This is very difficult, with the renal food, azidoyl (probiotic for kidneys) and enalapril, but used for kidney blood flow) all cause higher numbers. I increased the dose a little bit still under 1/2 unit a few days ago and she dipped very low in the mid 40's. i monitor her very closely...Set my alarm at night every 2 hrs. So its quite the battle. Today she was dosed at 2:45pm (163) given 1 1/2 hrs early too! Numbers arent going down, but up just checked her bs its 179 at 4 hrs post injection. I know my only choice is to give her more insulin. Any suggestions or can the pancreas get worse when it comes to kidney failure. thank you
