Cabergoline before SRT?

I'm still trying to figure out what treatment options we are pursuing but are leaning towards SRT. I need to make some more phone calls. Would it make sense to start cabergoline in the meantime if my vet is on board? I don't think that Bowdoin is feeling great, he's sleeping in his potty pad box (which did solve the inappropriate urination issue), always hungry and thirsty and I think he's developing neuropathy in his hind legs. I hate to see him like this and just want him to feel better. :(

Bowdoin is unregulated at this point with 9.5u Lantus 2x. day. Do they need to be regulated before treatment?
 
Yes, I weened Bronx off Cabergoline starting about 10 days before the SRT. However he was not on Cabergoline very long at all before that. It was done as a precaution and recommended by the RVC.

Thanks Paul. It looks like Bronx had SRT at ASC in Yonkers? I spoke to them yesterday and Dr. Lewis at Red Bank today. I guess I should start a new post with questions about deciding where to go but it looks like we can get in to either place fairly quickly so the Cabergoline wouldn't make much sense then.

Hi Suzan. Bronx went to Red Bank. I waited until Dr Lewis got the new machine in May of 2017 and we started on day 1 of their new machine. I did visit Yonkers and got a quote of $12-13K for their cyberknife which is more precise than SRT. I decided on SRT which was about $7K with 5-day boarding. It has almost been 2 years now and Bronx has gone from 37u to 7u of insulin but it took the whole 2 yrs to get there as you can see on his SS.

I'm a little confused. The person I spoke to at ACS/Yonkers said they had a Trilogy machine. That's regular SRT, not CyberKnife isn't it? I wonder if they changed.
 
Sorry, not up to date with what is at Yonkers. I have only heard of one cat go there due to cost. Most places are willing to answer questions if you call. Let us know if you find anything new.
 
Different cats respond differently to SRT. With Leo, you can see the results chart in the third tab of his spreadsheet "SRT Summary".

The most surprising deal with his Acro was the super fast ramp to 18 units/dose.

With my disability, I couldn't make any of the further away options happen logistically. We have an appointment with Angell Memorial in Boston on Thursday for a consult but I don't know if we're too late. They could start treatment the following Monday.
