Was asked to start this blog to encourage those of you that are using PZI  I will say Buttons was diagnosed 3 weeks ago. Her BG was over 500 and urine sugars were 1000+. Vet told me it cannot be controlled with diet. nailbite_smile I now know it can but most ppl would not put forth the effort and from my experience am sure a lot of animals get to much insulin and are in peril of going hypo or even worse ......... Click her spreadsheet to see her numbers and comments on her journey. Today I will start with this week and add to the blog
Sun 9/7
no test late for work gave 1.25, gave this as I knew from her previous numbers this would not be to much, better to give to little than to much if you cannot be around to watch for hypo signs. Luckily my daughter was home that day to get mid-cycle numbers.

PM 237 gave 1.25
Mon9/8
AM 245 gave 1.25
+7 204
+10 259
PM was late as I worked till 8:30 gave 1
Will now be on a later schedule, do not recommend doing this so quickly but I had no choice, as my daughter was working als and my husband would never be able to care for Buttons, the kitties do not like him lol
Numbers could be a bit high there is stress from a new kitten in the house. He showed up here Sun. night and as I have 13 here, what is one more.
Tuesday 9/9
AM 259 1.25
PM 213 gave 1
She was supposed to go to vet, she ran and hid, so I left her hiding. Brought all my notes instead, needless to say, vet was amazed! She was sent home with the same BG numbers and I was told to give her 3 & 3, as you can see we are getting the same numbers now on far less insulin.
9/10 Wednesday
AM 173 gave .50
PM 236 gave 1
Worked all day could not get any mid-cycle numbers
9/11 Thursday
AM 145 stalled with advice from long time member thru a 911 post on forum
+1 160 gave .50
PM 143 gave .50
When testing her urine I am pleased to say she is around 250 and am sure that will be normal soon too. Do not be discouraged, with the help you have here the annoying disease of diabetes can be controlled. If you feel the need ALWAYS CONSULT YOUR VET, but as we all know your kitties numbers will be HIGH AT THE VETS OFFICE. Last vet visit Buttons was 234 in AM Vets office 411, she wanted to give insulin, I said no, PM she was back down to 234, if she had given shot I could have had a hypo episode...... Buttons is young so she is responding quickly I feel. Be patient, as I was advised, lol it will happen...... Button's numbers prove that.
