Can anyone advise on dosage of Buprenex? The vet instructions say 1ML twice a day, every 12 hours. There's a dropper in the bottle and I can't really tell how much is 1ML. Is it the entire dropper? It seems like alot.

1 ml of bupe is a HUGE amount for a cat   Please double check with the vet for the correct dosage and how to measure the dose with the dropper and if an oral syringe can be used instead. Perhaps the vet meant to write 0.1 ml but forgot the decimal point or perhaps the decimal point is not clearly visible on the instructions. It's really easy to miss a decimal point especially if a zero isn't placed in front of it (.1 vs 0.1) Are the instructions handwritten or is it a print out?

That's what I thought after researching on-line and why I asked. Yes, it says 1 ML for 14 days - but there doesn't look like there is near enough in the bottle for 14 days @ 1 ML.

I would call and speak directly to the vet on that dose. It might have been an error by someone in the office. That is way too much bupe.

Maybe the bottle contains a total of 1 ml of bup and you're supposed to give X amount twice a day for 14 days? Please do speak directly with the vet for the correct amount of bup to give. I would not ask a vet tech for the dosage amount.

To really help you we need to know the concentration of the Buprenorphine.
The typical dose administered to dogs and cats is 0.005 to 0.01 mg per pound (0.01 to 0.02 mg/kg) intravenous or intramuscular two to four times per day. This dose can also be given orally.

Buprenorphine is typically available in 0.3 mg/ml concentration 1 milliliter ampules. However, it is also available in different concentrations.
The container should give the concentration.
